I use this one (rumble roller) every morning when I get up ☝️. I feel so much better afterwards πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘Œ.
We can put our back & neck out every night - simply by sleeping & moving around in our sleep ☝️.
Ever woken up with a sore back, neck or shoulder when you were fine the day before?
First thing in the morning is best while your muscles are relaxed ☝️. As the day goes on we become tighter.
This Roller may look threatening to some people and if you are not used to 'Massage Rollers' it can hurt ☝️😬 - use a smoother Roller to start with until you can handle this one!

Referral Pain from your Nerves can affect the whole Upper Body.
Neck Pain and Tension can also affect the Lower Spine area.
Tension at the Top will cause issues at the Bottom and vice-versa ☝️

Is it working for you & focusing on a reduction in postural issues? Helping to eliminate aches and pains from hours of sitting in the wrong position?
Are you getting up, stretching & moving around regularly? Have you got a 'Stand-up Desk' and anti fatigue mat as I do here? πŸ€”πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ If not ...... take another look at your set-out ☝️.

"Unrealistic Expectations"!!

Over the years I have had many in 'need' come to see me to help them with recovery, pain relief and functional treatment.
Generally the people I see usually either have left it too long - untreated - or have tried everything else and still have issues and pain.

Massage can be so helpful in recovery from injury - sport or non sport related - RSI (repetitive strain injury), stress related RSI & dysfunction to mention a few.

Having said that................
Self care should be on top of your list! NO ........ this does not mean you are 'selfish'!
And it need not cost the earth when seeking a professional for help. Look around and try before you buy if you can or seek opinions and referrals - word of mouth.

Self care involves a sensible diet, exercise, sleep, time-out with family and friends and importantly - Therapy & Recovery.
Unless you are suffering from a recent injury, this should all be a part of your daily, weekly, monthly routine.

Unrealistic expectations come into play when you know you have an issue and fail to do something about it for a long time - this can be years!
Don't just come for one Massage Treatment and expect to be instantly cured! That is unrealistic ☝️!
Think about how long it has taken you to get into this state in the first place - if it is chronic and not a new/sudden injury - and then ask yourself how long you have put up with this pain for??
Day's, week's, month's, years???

A Massage Therapist can be fantastic & know exactly what to treat and how. But.......we cannot create a 'miracle' in one hour. We are not the hand of God' so to speak or a magician or a wizard!

The human body is an amazing machine and can heal itself very well given the right tools' to do so. These are mentioned above.
I am sure many Athletes & professionals will agree with me here.

As for the average person - a lot of muscle, postural, pain issues can come from everyday life. Stress built up over time causes many of these issues as you are constantly tense, spend most of your day in the same position. This is generally from the work we do every day and usually also goes along with a lack of self care.
Therapists of all different kinds can be so beneficial and get great healing results. A physio will take you so far but then what? The treatments end and you are still not fully recovered - right?

Time to get into strength training, progressive rehab exercises, progressive other treatments like - massage therapy, mobility, swimming, gym exercises, chiropractor perhaps. You also need to help yourself to heal - don't expect others to do that for you forever! You need to take the initiative and ownership of your progress. Regular rehab & therapy will get you there along with all that I have mentioned.

This photo below is of 'me' at the 'Cross Fit Physio' a few years back. Sporting injury. That was 6/8 months of constant treatment and rehab, strength training to rectify. Well worth it my friends. I would not be treating anyone today if I did not practice what I preach!

So next time you say to yourself - 'god i am so tired of this pain or issue' ................ think about what you can do to help yourself. You only have one body - look after it ☝️🀨.

Treating very 'Lean' Clients ☝️.......

This is my Brother who is naturally very Lean' & has been all his life πŸ™πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ!

Some people are simply like this & NOT anorexic - let's just clear that up ☝️!

These people cannot tolerate 'pressure" from Massage as you are pushing straight down on muscle and bone. They must be treated gently and more effectively via other methods such as 'Dry Needling' shown here πŸ‘‡.

They usually cannot cope with a forceful Chiropractor either and feel that the Chiropractor may 'break something!

Here I am treating a Shoulder issue. I have advised him to see a Doctor & get an ultrasound/X-Ray as the issue sounds Capsular as well.

He needs Treatment from me although as the issue is causing certain muscles to overwork as others have become dysfunctional. This is also now causing other issues such as Inflammation, Nerve Impingement & an Overreactive Response from the Nervous System.

Issues are usually caused by repetitive movements (RSI),
accidents, injuries sustained & health conditions to name a few.
Very Lean' people also develop postural issues over time, joint issues & nerve impingement. Why????

This is due to the fact that they do not have enough Muscle Mass, Body Fat and other Tissue to fill in the Gaps and support the Bone Structure.
Sometimes increasing the Calorie intake or Quality of Nourishment along with Balanced Strength Training can help.
This did for a time when my Brother was young to a moderate improvement - not so now as he simply cannot digest all this food!

So treating these people goes under the same category as treating the Elderly β˜οΈπŸ‘΅πŸ‘΄.
Adjusting the Treatment to suit the Physical Body presented and the Neural Condition it is in.
How old is the person? What state of Health are they in?
What is their Neural state of Health? What is their Mental state of Health - are they really stressed out?!
All these factors matter when Treating a Client and needs to be considered before you start β˜οΈπŸ™!

Let's talk "Back Pain"..............

Don't simply ignore Back Pain'...............
It is not normal to be in constant Pain'- that is your body's response to letting you know there is something very wrong!

If you Exercise and Lift Weights - you will be familiar with what is Muscle Fatigue/Soreness from Exercise and what is an Alarming Pain' which can be totally debilitating!
That is the kind of pain that comes on suddenly and dropping you to the floor, freezing you in your tracks - this is Not Normal and there is something seriously wrong!

Massage Therapy can greatly assist with Back Pain and sometimes solve the issue entirely - and sometimes we need to refer you on as we feel there is a more serious issue that needs investigation via your Doctor as in Scans, X-Rays, Chiropractor perhaps or other Treatments.

It is so rewarding for me as a 'Therapist' when I have a Client that comes to see me - stooped over and shuffling along in Pain' - to see them leaving my door feeling much better and able to walk after my Treatment'! This may not be the case with everyone, depending on the situation and what has happened.
Generally people usually improve even more after a few days and their pain levels reduce. I like to check on Clients after 2 days to see how they are.

Keep in mind though that a Lifetime of 'Pain" is not cured in 'one' Massage Treatment ☝️!
It will take 2 to 6 or more Treatments - depending on the Issue - Injury or Chronic?!

One word of advice ...................
Having an issue and simply ignoring it or becoming totally sedentary and a couch potato will never solve your problems ☝️!
Seek the right help, keep moving.
'Spinal Compression' causing more Nerve and Muscle Pain greatly increases from 'inactivity' and also carrying too much body weight.
A healthy and strong body helps to support your Skeleton and keeps Vertebrae moving freely as they should.

If your Pain is the result of Injury ( from an Accident or simply moving the wrong way πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ)- obviously seek Medical help and Rehabilitation.
