So what can you do to improve your CVH?

As baby develops in the womb many women experience shifts in balance as their centre of gravity changes. 🤰🏽 Hence, even if regular exercise is not part of your lifestyle, improvements in core strength, and cardiovascular fitness often translate to better health and improved recovery post-partum. 👩🏻‍🔬📚 Recent post-Covid-19 research demonstrates that pregnant women 🤰🏻and their partners suffer from phenomena described as 'missing out'.🤦🏻‍♀️ During the pandemic, changes in the provision of maternity care meant that pregnant women and their partners felt a sense of loss because the maternity experience was not all it could have been or did not meet their pre-Covid expectations (Vasilevski et al., 2022).

👼🏼👏🏼Fortunately, the maternity experience has returned to a modified normality. Finding a balance between the health of mother and baby, and a 💜 fulfilling birthing experience is now easier to achieve and a priority for me and my team. 👭👫 It's a fact that having a supportive partner can make your pregnancy journey more enjoyable and less stressful.🤦🏻‍♀️ 💡But there's plenty more a partner can do to help reduce anxiety and promote a positive pregnancy. Here are just a few suggestions:

💜 Offer lots of encouragement and reassurance
👼🏼 Be present for important milestones
💭 Offer emotional support and understanding
🥕🥑 Support a healthy diet and exercise regime
🐝 Help reduce the physical workload around the home
👂🏻 Listen and acknowledge her fears and concerns
👩🏻‍⚕️ Seek reassurance from her obstetric team
Having a baby is wonderful. But it can be physically and emotionally demanding so be patient and don't hesitate to reach out to her obstetrician if you have any concerns. 📲

🗞️👩‍💻Recent media reports suggest that many couples are re-assessing their plans to start a family due climate change.🌪️⚡️💦 Uncertainty about the future has been an ongoing factor for family planning considerations. In fact, social research demonstrates that when there are macro-level events such as a pandemic or natural disaster people make decisions differently.💭 Younger couples tend to be more purposive in their intentions to start a family when major events intervene. 👶 However, for many, anxiety can play a major role when deciding to start a family. Australian researcher 🧑‍🔬Dr Carla Pascoe Leahy is investigating the impact of climate change hesitancy on decisions to have a baby.🤷‍♀️
