Sometimes in life, you gotta man up! Had fun playing Super Dad this morning at Aurora’s Father’s Day breakfast ✌️.

It’s easy to get caught in a trap of thinking we need to have a “second half” or be in a relationship to be or to feel whole. This is an illusion.

Whilst we may identify and physically appear to be a man or a woman, we have both energies within us. In many traditions they believe at a soul or spirit level, in our most pure form, we transcend gender, and are in fact androgynous - in other words, we are one.

A little practise I’ve been trying lately is alternate nostril breathing in the mornings upon waking aka. Pranayama. Whichever nostril is breathing air in and out more easily is the stronger side that day eg. Left for female, right for male. To honour the stronger side that day, I step out of bed on the same side.

Life is a balancing act. What we are aiming for is balanced internal masculine and feminine energies. As within, so without. When we have internal harmony, our environment begins to reflect that.

Give it a go!

Sienna dressed up as Sally O’Mally today from Two Left Feet, and took her tap shoes along for book week at kindy. This was a childhood favourite of mine - the school librarian read it to my class in Yr 1.

I nagged my mum to buy it, and she gave in. Like Sienna, I’m not very good at taking no for an answer! I also took up tap lessons at the Camberwell Town Hall. I loved it!

Sienna’s holding that same copy here, and it’s one of her favourite books, too. It has my name wonkily written inside the cover from 1996. This morning we added Sienna’s name too.

It’s about Barclay McLay who’s got two left feet and loves to dance (especially tap dance!), but doesn’t always find it easy to fit in or find a dance partner. One day he meets Sally O’Mally at a party - he spots her stepping on all her dance partners toes. After approaching her at the punch bowl, he discovers it’s becauae she has two right feet! So as you can imagine, they make pretty good pair… they team up and do extremely well together, winning trophies 🏆 and all making all sorts of dreams come true! They even get to give each other all the spare left and right shoes they have! Of course, some suit them better than others 👠🥾🛼👟👡

At the beginning of this year, Sienna was enrolled in ballet lessons. We needed some specific socks, so went to a ‘Dance Direct’ store in Maroubra. She spotted some tap shoes on the shelf, and insisted on trying them on. Next moment, I found myself trying a matching pair on… next moment, we both walked out of the shop with a new pair of tap shoes!

In primary school, I gave up tap dancing too soon, because my friends were all doing hockey and I didn’t want to be left out. I never liked hockey, but I persisted for years to try and fit in.

Since the impulsive splurge at ‘Dance Direct’, the girls now accompany me every Thursday to tap lesson with in Bondi. We pick up sushi for dinner on the way. And I love it! Sienna eagerly taps along, and we often dance together at home.

Thank you, Sienna, for helping me rediscover something from my childhood that brought so much joy then, and still does now! I see the magic in your determined little soul.

💛 Sally

Happy Friday friends!

I have some questions for you...

1. What was your rose (highlight) this week?

2. What was your thorn (lowlight) from this week?

3. What's your leaf for this weekend (thing that you're most looking forward to?)

Love to hear! Comment below or send me a What's App with What's Up.

So often I feel like a failure. Why? Where do I start…

Got divorced ✅

Changed jobs just about every year since I first had one ✅

Still figuring out how to make a sustainable living, and certainly haven’t considered super in a long while ✅

Whilst I’m great at “Emotional Freedom Techniques” for other people, sometimes I struggle applying them to myself ✅ … (ever heard that saying “a mechanics car is never fixed??)

But then I look at these beautiful girls that I miraculously created - Aurora and Sienna - through the lens of someone else’s looking eye, and realise just how much light they are bringing to the world…

And bit by bit, instead of feeling pain when I’m not with them, I feel joy… maybe even a hint of success at something 😜.

This is just a little reminder that we are all on different timelines in life, and to never compare yourself to others, or you’ll always lose. “Comparison is the thief of joy”, they say.

I find comfort in knowing that we come to this earth as souls, having divine missions (and challenges!) that we are all on. Everything that happens in our life is necessary for us to fulfil those missions - the good and the bad.

I believe your soul chose you. It chose your parents. It chose your siblings and children, or none. It chose your partner, or ex partners, or none. It chose your home country, language, skin colour, strengths, weaknesses, and all. And it loves you, truly, madly, deeply - it’s always waiting for you to remember how perfect, amazing, and whole you truly are.

Often we resist our circumstances. Why would anyone sign up for divorce, disease, disability, disaster, or death? It’s hard to make sense of it when we are “going through hell”, so to speak. And I’m sure you’ve heard that saying, “what we resist, persists”.

Perhaps the way is to fall IN LOVE with your path, at every twist and turn.

Every month I run a class called ‘Sensory & Stretching with Sally’ at the BUPA Aged Care Centre in Queens Park. I weave in some sound bowls, mantras, resistance band exercises, essential oils, feathers, and even bubbles 🫧.

Initially, I was asked to run a “seated yoga” session - and whilst they were probably expecting only physical movements, they’ve ended up with these extra touches, which to me are the true essence of yoga. I took a risk, it’s all a bit different, but luckily they love it! It’s been almost 12 months now since I started.

Yoga actually means “to yolk”, “Union”, or “to become one”. Often when we attend a yoga class these days it’s in a crowded room where we roll out our mats and barely make eye contact or conversation with anyone at the studio. Sometimes when we are on this kinda yogic path, we forget why we even got on it in the first place, and where we are intending to go.

Hence why I love to finish these classes with the simple pleasure of a feather tickle. An embodiment “namaste”, which means “the light in me sees the light in you”, or “I bow to you.”

Gentle touch, whether it’s with a hand or feather, feels SO good because it releases the DOSE chemicals:

DOPAMINE - the reward hormone

OXYTOCIN - the cuddle hormone

SEROTONIN - the mood and anxiety stabiliser

ENDORPHINS - the natural pain killer and mood booster

This kind of touch allows for emotional connection. From an evolution standpoint, it’s nature’s way of saying “this is safe, this is good, stay connected.” When the nervous system gets this message, healing spontaneously happens… resulting in good heath, happiness, and harmony.

You’re never too old to heal.

This is yoga!

One of my treasured client’s recently shared a Google review with the beautiful words in this post, reflecting on her journey in working with me so far.

Sometimes I find it hard to describe what my sessions look or feel like, or even what exactly they’ll “give you”, since this always seems to be different for each person and I now work and play with so many different modalities, but I love the way Des describes it here…

“A powerful blend of shadow work and light work - profound yet uplifting.”

This made me think of a yin and yang symbol, hence the picture ☯️

And, this last sentence from Des has to be around the biggest compliment I’ve ever received.. and I hope to show up in this way for myself, my family, and any other beautiful souls that I cross paths with.

“Being gently guided by someone as solid, conscious, loving, and wise as Sally is a blessing I will never forget.”

Thank you Des, for being willing to open and share your heart like this! You are amazing.

16/01/2025

One of the most powerful things we can do when we are in pain, whether it’s PMS related or not, is slow down and listen. Most of us have been so conditioned to reach outside ourselves for relief - to take a painkiller or pill of some sort, to numb or distract ourselves with excessive exercise, work, chocolate, sugar, carbs, alcohol, TV, or even become addicted to practices like yoga, breathwork, crystals, plant medicines or sound healings, which can be a form of bypassing too (at least this has been my experience for as long as I remember! Anyone else?)...

but what if we realised that our periods and pain are actually our bodies way of communicating with us, asking us to slow down and listen, so they can guide us back to a place of peace, and pleasure? It would take a lot of pressure off the running around, searching for answers out there, if we could figure out how to actually BE our own medicine.

This is one of our guiding principles in my SheFlows program. If She’s speaking to you, let’s talk! We start Feb 17th and you can join any week thereafter.

Love,

🌺 Sally Janet

For a number of years, I struggled with the 5C’s of the “PMS Me”, as above, without realising there was any rhyme or reason to the symptoms I was experiencing. Then I noticed a pattern emerging. These debilitating symptoms that were wreaking havoc in my life, ruining my relationships and career, weren’t always present - for the 2-3 weeks following my menstrual cycle I’d be cruising through life, kicking goals and having a good time, and then for the one to two weeks preceding my next menstrual cycle I’d be tumbling back into the depths of despair again, negatively impacting the people around me that I loved.

I now know this was not normal. This was extreme PMS. This was PMDD. I’m living it - I’m breathing it - I’m healing it - and I’m here to help you start healing it too, if you’re also noticing these destructive patterns.

My 90 day She Flows program kicks off this February, and there’s still some space to join an intimate beta group if you’re ready to start addressing the roots of these symptoms. SheFlows is not only for women diagnosed with PMDD. This is for any women out there who want to find emotional harmony, feel good in their bodies, and get back to being the best version of themselves, for good!

Jasmine’s journey from feeling utterly lost & anxious to calm & trusting last year was an absolute privilege to hold space for.

One of my favourite aspects to this work is reflecting on the progress my clients make when they commit to diving deep in regular sessions together. The transformations never cease to amaze me!

Free discovery calls are now available via the link in bio to have a chat about how Energy Psychology might just help you, and get a little taste for it.

Excited for another year of transformative journeys ahead!
