Today on Australasian Sonographers Day, we celebrate all the incredible sonographers at The Royal - across Medical Imaging, Maternal Fetal Medicine, the Breast Centre, and our NICU. Each one is a compassionate expert behind every single scan. 💜

From supporting women through pregnancy, to caring for those living with chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis, to scanning our tiniest patients in the NICU - our sonographers play an essential role in women’s health every single day.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’re able to fund new equipment - including state-of-the-art ultrasound machines - that enable our team to continue providing the highest level of care.

Your support helps make this possible. ✨

💜 Volunteer Day with Love to Dream 💜

We were so thrilled to welcome the wonderful team from Love to Dream on their very first Corporate Volunteer Day at The Royal!

The day was filled with smiles and heartwarming moments as the team helped us pack and deliver our beloved Koala Bags to mothers and families across different departments of the hospital - spreading a little extra comfort and care to new parents and their babies, with the addition of their signature Swaddle Up in each bag. 🐨✨

“It was an incredibly rewarding experience for our team to be involved in the impactful work happening at The Royal and to connect with parents and their beautiful newborns. Everyone had a wonderful time and left feeling inspired and grateful.”- Sarah Yusnanda, People & Culture Coordinator, Love to Dream

After handing out the Koala bags, meeting some fresh new babies and new parents, along with a special private tour of the hospital, each member of the Love to Dream team received their official Certificate of Appreciation, a small token of our gratitude for their generosity and support.

A huge thank you to the Love to Dream team for your warmth, kindness, and ongoing support for women and newborns at The Royal 💜

If your workplace is looking for a meaningful team building experience, or a way to give back this Christmas, consider joining us for a Volunteer Day at The Royal.

We’re still flying high from last week’s beautiful event 💜

Embrace The Journey - the first of its kind at The Royal - was a wellness showcase created for women going through breast cancer, led by our very own Dr Sarah Forsyth and Sorcha Loughnane.

Held on the 17th of October, the day brought together our community of clinicians, patients, and supporters to connect, share, and focus on wellbeing. ✨

We heard from inspiring speakers including Gill Neil (Menopause Hub), Fiona Heath (Fertility and Research Centre), Lea Yanitsas and Alyssa Lacroix (Physiotherapy), and Martine Dines, who shared her powerful story of resilience and mental wellbeing during her breast cancer journey.

We also welcomed Dr Shweta Srinivasa (Hereditary Cancer Clinic), Jessica Collings (Survivorship Clinic, POWH), and Cindy Cunningham from Look Good Feel Better, and closed the day with a calming Ayurvedic wellness session by Supriya Ruparelia 🌿

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this special day possible - and to all who continue to support women on their journey.

There’s still time to support Breast Services at The Royal this Breast Cancer Awareness Month - every donation makes a difference. Link to donate royalwomen.org.au/breast-services

🌸 It’s World Menopause Day! 🌸

Today, we celebrate one year of The Royal’s Menopause Hub, a leading service supporting women across NSW who are experiencing complex and severe menopausal symptoms. 💜

In the past year alone, almost 950 new women have come through the Hub’s pink doors - in person or via telehealth - to receive specialist, compassionate care.

The Menopause Hub offers four specialised clinics:
✨ Medically Complex Menopause
✨ Menopause After Cancer / Medically Induced Menopause
✨ Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (Menopause under 40)
✨ Hormone and Mood Clinic - Our state's first publicly funded clinic for women experiencing severe psychological menopause symptoms

The Hub supports women across the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, reaching as far as the NSW/Victoria border.

A huge thank you to the incredible team behind this pioneering service, empowering women to thrive through every stage of life. Happy one year 🎉

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we shine a light on Tiffany Cole - one of the incredible women currently receiving breast cancer treatment through The Royal’s Breast Services. 💜

Tiffany’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of self-checks and regular screenings for women over 40. Early detection is key, and regular bi-yearly screenings truly save lives.

Each year, The Royal’s Breast Services care for more than 2,500 women, providing world-class care, compassion, and support to women and their families.

Today marks Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month - a time to reflect, remember, and honour our babies who left us too soon.

In February 2025, Elizabeth and Gil Pollak sadly lost their firstborn son, Max. In August, Gil ran the City2Surf as a way to keep Max’s memory alive.

“Losing our son Max was the most painful experience of our lives, but the compassion and care we received from the Social Work team helped preserve his memory and the precious moments we spent with him. Fundraising in Max’s memory is our way of honouring him and ensuring other families receive the same support in their darkest moments.” - Elizabeth

Gil became our top City2Surf fundraiser ($16,773!) dedicating all the money raised to our Social Work Department’s Bereavement Fund.

A few weeks ago, Gil, Elizabeth and their families visited our Foundation office to receive their memorial plaque, commemorating the donations made in Max’s name.

Creating a fundraiser like this is one of many ways to honour your baby’s memory. 💜

Calling all our families from the Illawarra region!

Five years ago, Amy Hall gave birth to her beautiful baby girl Grace, prematurely at 26+3 weeks at The Royal Hospital for Women.

Thanks to the incredible care of our MFM team - Dr Antonia Shand, Dr Willem Gheysen and Dr Amanda Lazzaro - Amy was able to keep Grace in utero for an extra 3 weeks and 3 days via a cervical cerclage.

“Without Dr Antonia and the careful watch of this team, both myself and Grace may not be alive.” - Amy

Today, Grace is a thriving 5 year old and visited The Royal just last week 💜 Amy has raised over $5,000 already to support specialised MFM equipment for the department.

Now, Amy (Banksia Support Services) and Dr Danielle Camer are launching their inspiring new book, Authenticity & Action - a celebration of women’s stories, resilience and living your most authentic life.

Today on World Mental Health Day, we’re celebrating three incredible members of our Perinatal Mental Health Team at The Royal - Leona, Molly, and Robbie.

Robbie, our Clinical Midwifery Consultant, supports women through the perinatal period - connecting them with care providers and offering compassionate psychological support during this deeply transformative time.

Leona and Molly are Perinatal Mental Health Outreach Clinicians - Molly with a Social Work background and Leona as a Registered Nurse with a Child and Family Health background. Together, they walk alongside families from pregnancy through to the first year after birth, offering care, guidance, and support for parents navigating mental health challenges during their transition to parenthood.

In Australia, perinatal mental health challenges are more common than many realise - depression is experienced by up to 1 in 10 women during pregancy, and 1 in 7 women in the year following birth. For men, it's 1 in 10 for postnatal depression.

Thank you to Leona, Molly, Robbie, and the entire Perinatal Mental Health team for your empathy, dedication, and the vital work you do to support families at The Royal Hospital for Women. 💜
