City2Surf registrations are now open - this is your chance to sign up and run for The Royal. đź’ś

Last year, Gil Pollak was our top fundraiser, raising an incredible $16,773 to support The Royal’s Social Work’s Bereavement Fund.

“I ran in memory of my son Max, who we lost at the Royal in February 2025. The care our family received during the most devastating experience of our lives was extraordinary. Running felt like the least I could do to give something back and to make sure other families facing the same unimaginable loss receive that same level of support.”

Gil is one of many Royal dads who run with Royal Runners - each with their own story, each making a difference for families in our care every day.

Every step helps fund vital equipment, research, and care for women and babies who need it most.

City2Surf entries open in 2 days!

Last year, Royal Dad Andy laced up for his very first City2Surf - running in celebration of the care his family received at The Royal.

This year, he’s doing it all over again. 💜

“Its one of the most rewarding acts you can do! Running not just for yourself but all the women and babies who need all the support… I would like to have the City2Surf become a yearly event to complete personally, and I thought why not just complete it and raise some funds for the hospital too!”

And that’s what being part of our Royal Runners is all about.

Whether you’re chasing a PB, walking with friends, or pushing a pram - every step you take helps fund vital equipment, research, and care for families who need it most.

✨ All fitness levels welcome
✨ Fundraise solo or with your crew
✨ Run in honour of your little one
✨ Raise $100+ and receive a Royal Runners shirt
✨ Raise $1,000+ and we’ll refund your entry

1 in 7 women in Australia live with Endometriosis.

For Rebecca, it took years to understand her pain.

After experiencing symptoms in her 20s - and worsening in her 30s - she believed it was just “normal” period pain.

It wasn’t until an ultrasound revealed Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis that she finally had answers.

At 41, Rebecca underwent surgery at The Royal Hospital for Women - a turning point that has made a profound difference in her life.

“Having a specialist hospital creates a space where women’s health issues are heard, our symptoms are believed.”

This Endometriosis Awareness Month, we’re sharing stories like Rebecca’s to shine a light on a condition that is too often dismissed, delayed, and misunderstood.

Help us support more women to be heard, diagnosed earlier, and receive the care they deserve. đź’śđź’›

Today we celebrate the news that Donna Garland, Royal Hospital for Women General Manager and Royal Hospital for Women Foundation Board Director has been appointed as NSW Health’s first Chief Midwife - a newly created role in response to the NSW Birth Trauma Inquiry.

Donna moves into this role having dedicated more than 30 years of advocacy and leadership in the midwifery profession and will continue to focus on further improvements to public maternity care.

This appointment is a significant step forward for women’s health across the state. Women’s Minister Jodie Harrison said the move goes to the heart of maternity care.

“Women’s health is a key priority for the Minns Labor Government and this is an important step in making sure that women – and their newborns – receive the crucial care they need at one of the most significant time in their lives,” she said.

Thank you, Donna, for your leadership at The Royal and in maternal health. We wish you every success and look forward to working with you in this vital new role.

At just 16 weeks, Jane’s pregnancy took a terrifying turn.

Living in Mollymook and diagnosed with Selective Growth Restriction with her MCDA twins, Jane was transferred to The Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick to see the incredible Maternal Fetal Medicine team. She and her husband Mathew would travel three hours each way, every week, for scans and appointments - a journey that gave them reassurance knowing their girls were in the best possible hands.

At 28 weeks, Tess and Maggie arrived via c-section - both the most amazing and terrifying day of their lives.

“It wasn’t the newborn moment we had imagined, but we were grateful to know they were exactly where they needed to be. The monitors, incubators and specialised equipment supporting them were their lifeline - much of it made possible through community donations.”

The twins spent 7.5 weeks in The Royal’s NICU before moving closer to home for another two weeks, finally coming home to their family.

“Looking back, our NICU journey has taught us patience and how powerful the smallest victories can be. Tess and Maggie’s big brother and sister are their biggest cheerleaders.”

This Multiple Birth Awareness Week, we celebrate families like Jane’s - their courage, resilience, and hope through challenging times.

Around 80% of the life-saving NICU equipment is funded through donations, helping give every premature baby the best possible start.

If Jane’s story resonates with you, support The Royal and make a lasting impact for babies like Tess and Maggie. 💜💜

Today is World Social Work Day - a chance to recognise the incredible impact social workers have on the women, babies and families cared for at The Royal.

The team of eight social workers support patients through some of life’s most challenging moments. From a cancer diagnosis, to caring for a premature baby in NICU, or navigating complex pregnancies and loss, their work is often quiet - but deeply powerful.

Today we’re spotlighting three of our incredible social workers:
• Terry Diamond, supporting NICU and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) families
• Liz Fitzsimmons, supporting Gynae Oncology, Benign Gynaecology and Breast Services
• Ashlee Stewart, supporting women and families through perinatal care

With demand for practical support higher than ever, donations help our social workers provide essentials like grocery vouchers, fuel cards and emergency accommodation for families receiving care at The Royal.

Endometriosis is complex - and caring for those who live with it requires more than one approach.

At The Royal, our doctors, physiotherapists and psychologists work together to provide multidisciplinary care that supports the whole patient - helping manage pain, improve quality of life and move closer to earlier diagnosis.

But there’s more work to do.

As a leading endometriosis research hub, donations help fund vital research, specialist care and better treatments for patients now and into the future.

Donate today to support endometriosis care and research at The Royal. đź’ś

At the Royal Hospital for Women, women living with chronic gynaecological pain are supported by a multidisciplinary team that truly understands the complexity of their experience.

This Endometriosis Awareness Month, we’re proud to spotlight Dr Erin Nesbitt-Hawes (Director of Benign Gynaecology), along with clinicians from our Royal Pain Service - Carla Sank (Physiotherapist) and Shanika Chandra (Clinical Psychologist) - who work closely with patients to identify the causes of pain, explore treatment options, and build practical self-management strategies that improve quality of life for those living with endometriosis.

Thanks to our generous donors, we are able to support teams across the hospital who help ensure women feel heard, supported and empowered on their journey with chronic pain. đź’›

As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, The Royal's Gynaecology and Women's Health department entered a local IWD Netball Tournament in support of The Royal Hospital for Women Foundation.

The team - made up of clinicians, executive and administrative staff - proudly wore their purple shirts to represent The Royal and play netball for a great cause.

A huge thank you to the team for taking part in the tournament over the weekend and supporting women’s health on and off the court! 💜

Today, we celebrate the amazing team at The Royal Hospital for Women!

For International Women’s Day, we asked staff what the theme “Give to Gain” means to them - and their answers remind us every day of the dedication, compassion, and care they bring to our community.

From supporting families to empowering each other, our incredible staff give so much - and in doing so, they make a lasting impact.

Join us in celebrating the people who make RHW a place of care, strength, and inspiration.

Happy International Women's Day 2026!

Today at The Royal Hospital for Women, we celebrated International Women’s Day a little early by spreading love, gratitude, and sweet treats across the hospital. 💜

We designed affirmation cards, each reading “You are powerful. Resilient. Extraordinary.” with a personal note on the back, alongside Lindt chocolates generously donated by Lindt

A huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who helped write the messages and personally deliver the cards to patients and clinicians - lifting spirits and reminding everyone of their incredible strengths.

From the Foundation to every woman here at The Royal: you are extraordinary đź’ś
