At PPFC, we incorporate clinical pilates into our treatment plans to support function long term and improve muscle control, strength and mobility.
 
Anastasia is demonstrating the ‘mermaid’ exercise on the reformer which is a great way of improving thoracic mobility and working on control throughout resisted range of motion training.
 
Our Physio group sessions include use of the reformer, chair, cadillac, weights, resistance bands, medicine balls and mat exercises to support you in your rehab.

- With an exercise band around your knees ⁠

- Keep your finger tips pressing together gently in front of you ⁠

- Now bend your knee slightly and extend 25 degrees outwards and backwards. Be sure to keep BOTH glutes engaged! ⁠

Repeat 8 – 12 times each side⁠

You should definitely feel your glutes!⁠

To increase the challenge: Hold light dumbells (1 - 1.5Kg) pressed together as you do the glute lift each side..⁠

Relax the shoulders and breathe!

- As you step back alternate your leg with your arm weight above your head (like an 80’s aerobics move) ⁠
