Honoured to be selected as a finalist amongst this diverse group of outstanding women

👏 Congratulations Professor Maria Kavallaris AM who has been named as one of three finalists for NSW Premier's Woman of the Year.

As Head of the Translational Cancer Nanomedicine theme at Children's Cancer Institute and Founding Director of the Australian Centre for Nanomedicine at UNSW, Maria has dedicated her career to developing safer, more effective treatments for aggressive childhood cancers.

An ultrasensitive miRNA sensor based on gold-coated magnetic nanoparticles modified with redox-labelled probe DNA is capable of detecting miRNA at a concentration of 10 aM to 1 nM in unprocessed blood, and following tumour-induced variation in miRNA levels.

ACN Director Prof Maria Kavallaris featured in China Global Television Network interview on a productive research, industry and clinical collaboration using a drug delivery system developed by EnGeneIC for an aggressive childhood cancer, neuroblastoma.

Australian researchers say they have made a breakthrough in the way children are treated for certain types of cancers.
