A standard crunch. When are you ever going to do this in your life other than when you're doing it?

But this. Getting down. Using momentum. Coming back up.

That makes sense. That's a life skill. That's functional strength you'll use every single day.

Do This And You Never Need To Stretch Again.

That's a big claim. I stand by it completely.

Here's what nobody taught you about stiffness.

Stretching treats stiffness like a length problem. The muscle is short, so pull it longer. The tissue is tight, so force it open. Hold it in a painful position for 30 seconds, 60 seconds, and hope something gives.

But stiffness isn't a length problem. It's a communication problem.

Your nervous system tightened those tissues for a reason. Stress. Injury. Years of posture. Emotional weight you carried and never put down. Old accidents. Accumulated tension.

Every one of those restrictions is your nervous system's protection programme. It locked down to keep you safe. And it did a brilliant job.

But it never got the signal to stop.

And every time you stretch, every time you force those tissues open, your nervous system feels threat. Because you're overriding a protection it put in place deliberately. So it responds the only way it knows how.

It locks down tighter. After the stretch. While you sleep. By morning.

Tai Chi's Secret In 58 Seconds... The Slower You Move The Faster You Heal.

Sounds backwards, doesn't it?

Every workout you've ever done taught you the same thing. Faster. Heavier. Harder. More reps. More intensity. More sweat. Push through. Grind it out. No pain no gain.

And your body learned to do something remarkable in response.

It learned to move fast enough to hide everything that's wrong with it.

Speed masks dysfunction. Every compensation pattern, every fascial restriction, every neurological disconnection, every asymmetry between left and right, disappears when you're moving too fast to feel it.

STOP Stretching Your Neck. Do THIS Instead.

Every morning. The same routine.

Tilt your head to one side. Pull it with your hand. Roll it around in circles. Maybe get someone to crack it. Hold it in that painful stretch for 30 seconds hoping something will finally release.

Stand up. Feel a tiny bit of relief. Sit back down at the desk.

And by 11am. The same stiffness. The same tension. The same neck.

You've been doing this for years. Maybe decades. And nothing has changed. Not really. Not permanently.

Because you've been treating the symptom. The problem is 6 inches lower.

Your neck isn't tight because of your neck.

It's tight because your shoulder joint has been compressed for years. Every hour at a desk. Every drive with your hands on the wheel. Every scroll through your phone. Every stressful meeting where your shoulders crept up toward your ears and never came back down.

The joint space closed. Fluid stopped circulating. The fascia around the shoulder dehydrated and stuck. Your shoulder lost its range quietly, gradually, without you noticing.

Nothing fancy. Nothing forced. Just the weight of your own arm opening up the space in the joint. Fresh nutrient-rich fluid bathes the joint capsule. The tissue that's been starved of circulation for years finally gets fed.

Once the joint opens and the muscle relaxes, create a little pendulum. Just a gentle swing. Once you get the movement going, you can let it continue on its own. The more you relax your shoulder, the more the movement cycles through naturally.

Take that into a spiral. Now you're getting all this beautiful movement through the joint with no pain, no strain, and the muscles able to stay completely relaxed.

Come to standing. Let the hand come across the chest and throw a ball to a two-year-old. Beautiful little swinging motion.

Now feel the difference between the arm you just exercised and the one you haven't.

That difference you feel? That's not just your shoulder.

That's your neck's future.

When the shoulder opens, the neck stops compensating. The tension that's been building for years dissolves at the source. Not because you forced it. Because you finally addressed the joint that was causing it.

If You Work On A Computer, You Need To Know This.

Your shoulders are paying for every email you've ever sent.

Every hour at the desk. Every meeting hunched over a laptop. Every evening scrolling your phone on the couch. Every drive with both hands on the wheel and your chest slowly closing in on itself.

Year after year after year.

Your chest has been closing. Your shoulder blades have been drifting forward. The fascia between your blades and your ribcage has gone from fluid and gliding to stuck and adhered. WD-40 turning to sticky putty.

Your shoulders aren't tight because you're aging. They're tight because they've been locked in the same position for decades. And your body adapted to it. Efficiently. Permanently. Until you give it a reason to change.

No amount of pulling your shoulders back fixes this. That's your prefrontal cortex trying to override a pattern your nervous system committed to years ago. You'll hold it for 30 seconds and get sucked right back into the work. Because that's how the brain works during cognitive tasks. Postural control loses. Every time.

A stick changes everything.

This is an essential piece of equipment to go with a computer. It gives you the opportunity to open the chest in a way that nothing else quite matches.

Get the stick behind your back and work to the point where you can get it to the elbows. For some people, you won't be able to get it there. That's already a diagnostic. Your shoulder girdle is out of alignment and needs, deserves restoration. Wherever you can get the stick to, you get it to. That's your starting point.

Now push forward with your arms as hard as you can. And push back with your back as hard as you can.

Two forces meeting each other so they're balanced. You're literally trying to break the stick over your back. As hard as you can. 100% effort.

Count of 10. Slowly come off. Come out. Reset.

One round.

From there you can do as many rounds as you like. You can also play with getting your hands on top and trying to push the stick down towards the ground. Tailbone stays tucked under. Core engages. Spine stays straight. And then you try and break the stick.

Now here's what just happened in your body.

Your chest opened.

Not because you forced it open. Because two opposing forces created space. Forward pressure from the arms meets backward pressure from the back.

They balance each other. And in that balance, the adhesion between your shoulder blades and your ribcage starts to release.

This is balanced opposition. The same principle acrobats and gymnasts use to create stability. The same principle martial artists train for decades. Protection and power through balance, not through gripping.

When the chest opens, everything downstream starts to self-correct.

Shoulder blades drop back to where they belong. Not because you pulled them. Because the tissue in front finally released and gave them room.

Breathing deepens because the ribcage has space to expand. The thoracic spine starts moving again because the shoulders aren't pinning it down. That chronic tension between your shoulder blades that massage can never quite shift? It dissolves. Because you addressed the adhesion, not just the symptom.

The neck tension eases. The headaches reduce. The lower back that's been compensating because the thoracic spine wouldn't rotate? It calms down.

Everything is connected. Open the chest and the whole chain downstream begins to restore itself.

The One Exercise Every Person Over 45 Should Be Doing. And Almost Nobody Is.

That is no small claim. And I stand by it.

Without doubt this is one of the most powerful exercises in my personal practice. I've been doing it with these specific cues for three years now. A truly life changing journey.

But I want to be honest with you about something.

Done through the range I demonstrate here, not everyone is going to have access to this exercise right off the bat. And that's okay. There are lots of other exercises on this page to go on with. And there are simple progressions to unlock this in almost any body.

I say that upfront because the fitness industry has a habit of showing you the advanced version and making you feel broken if you can't do it immediately. That's not what we do here.

Now let me tell you why this exercise matters so much.

Most core training teaches you one thing. Brace. Hold. Tighten. Crunch in one plane. Build rigidity and call it strength.

You can hold a 3-minute plank and still groan getting out of a chair. Do 100 crunches and still struggle to get off the floor. Have visible abs and still throw your back out reaching for something on the top shelf.

Because none of that trains what your core actually does in real life.

Your core's real job isn't holding a position. It's coordinating your entire body through rotation, transition, and unpredictable real-world movement.

Getting off the floor. Twisting to grab something off the back seat. Catching yourself when you trip on the footpath. Rolling over in bed without your back seizing. Playing with your grandkids on the ground. Carrying shopping bags while stepping off a curb.

That takes functional integration. The ability for every part of your torso to communicate with every other part in real time. Stabilising through movement, not against it.

This exercise builds that.

Not by forcing strength into one rigid position. By teaching your whole system to work together through its full available range. Your core learns to stabilise dynamically. Through rotation. Through transition. Through the actual patterns your body needs to handle every day.

That's the difference between a core that looks strong on Instagram and a core that IS strong in your actual life. In every direction. In every situation. At every age.

Three years of this practice has changed how my body holds itself. Not just during exercise. All day. The way I stand. The way I sit. The way I move through space. It's become foundational to everything else I do.

If you can do this today, do it. Feel what three minutes does to how your body organises itself for the rest of the day.

If you can't access this range yet, that is not failure. That's your body telling you where it is today. And where it is today is the perfect starting point. There are gentle progressions that build the mobility and coordination to unlock this in almost any body.

This is what the Body Magic Method is built on. Not training your body to hold positions it'll never use. Training it to move through life with confidence, freedom, and trust.

Not rigidity. Flow. Not bracing. Integration. Not holding on for dear life. Moving through it with ease.

Planks Are Why You Can't Get Off The Floor. 30 Seconds Fixes It.

Pilates. Yoga. Gym classes. Boot camps. Online programs. Everyone obsessed with planks.

Linear. Static. One plane. One direction. One rigid position held until your arms shake and your instructor tells you you're getting stronger.

But are you?

Let me ask you something.

How much of your day do you spend lying face down with arms extended, body rigid, hovering above the floor?

Never. You never do that.

So why is this the exercise the entire fitness industry has decided is essential?

Your core's actual job isn't holding a position. It's coordinating your entire body through real-world movement.

Rolling over in bed. Twisting to grab something off the back seat of the car. Getting down to the floor. Getting back up again. Catching yourself when you trip on the footpath. Reaching for something on a high shelf while stepping off a stool.

Rotation. Transition. Function. Multi-directional, split-second, whole-body coordination.

Not holding a position you'll never use outside the gym.

Here's what happens when you only train linear.

Strong in one plane. Weak in every other. Your body builds rigidity and calls it strength. You can hold a 3-minute plank but your body doesn't know how to rotate under load. Can't transition smoothly from standing to floor. Can't get back up without rolling sideways and grabbing the couch.

That's not core strength. That's a party trick.

And here's the real cost.

Remember the sitting-rising test? 4,282 adults tracked for 12 years. Those who couldn't get off the floor without support were up to 6 times more likely to die from cardiovascular disease. Every point you improve drops your mortality risk by 21%.

Getting off the floor requires rotation. Transition. Multi-directional core coordination. Everything a plank doesn't train.

The exercise the fitness industry told you builds core strength has nothing to do with the movement that predicts how long you live.

Watch this movement instead.

Rolling. Transitioning. Rotating. Flowing from one position to the next. This is how your body actually moves through the world.

No holding. No rigidity. No counting seconds staring at the floor. Just your core doing what it was designed to do. Stabilising through movement, not against it.

Your plank trained your core to lock. This teaches it to flow.

That's the difference between a body that looks strong on Instagram and a body that IS strong in your actual life. In every direction. In every situation. At every age.

This Is One Of The Proudest Moments Of My Career. And It Started With Something Nobody Expected.

A woman came to me who wanted to get pregnant.

She hadn't had a natural cycle in over 18 months. Doctors were involved. Stress was high. Hope was fading.
