Teething can be a tough stage for little ones and their parents 🦷👶
When babies are teething, there can be increased tension through the jaw, face, and surrounding muscles as teeth begin to push through the gums. This can sometimes show up as irritability, drooling, chewing on everything, or unsettled sleep 💤
In practice, we may use a very gentle cranial technique often referred to as the Jam Jar Technique. Light contact and rotation is applied through the jaw and cranial structures to help relax tension through the jaw and surrounding structures, including the Temporomandibular Joint 😬
The goal is to support comfort and relaxation while babies move through this normal developmental phase.
Every baby is different, and chiropractic care focuses on assessing the musculoskeletal and nervous system to see what may be contributing to tension or discomfort.
If your little one seems unsettled during teething, it can sometimes help to have their spine, muscles, and jaw checked by a qualified chiropractor.
