Busy weeks can be tough on families and finding time to connect almost impossible. Using the routine of mealtimes is a great way to find time to talk, laugh and listen to each other.

Step One- Find a time to sit together for a meal
Step Two- Find an open-ended question to start a conversation (a question that can not be answered with yes or no)
Step Three-Allow each family member to have their say. Support active listening before asking the next person (have a fun way to pull up anyone who interrupts! Talking stick or a buzzer!)

Holly has worked in the field of neurodiversity throughout her entire professional career of 23 years and has specialised in developmental paediatrics and neurodiverse young people. As a registered nurse in neurodiversity and a qualified social worker, she has also completed extensive post graduate study and training to extend her qualifications in this field. During her career, she has gained comprehensive and wide-ranging experience in the assessment, treatment, management and support of children and young people who experience neuro differences.

Holly has a specific interest in Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Intellectual impairment and Specific Learning Disorders. As such she also has specific interests and skills in positive behaviour support, building social skills and functional capacity and supporting/advocating for families of neurodiverse children and young people

Dr Uyen Tran is a developmental paediatrician, who enjoys working in partnerships with children, young people and their families and their support networks, to understand their concerns and to support them to find their own unique solutions.

She has worked for many years in community and hospital based child development services, and enjoys working in a team environment with allied health colleagues to provide assessment and intervention for children, young people and their families through a multidisciplinary lens.
