While we won’t be having a stand at the upcoming Rosehill show, some of our kits will be available on the AndIan models stand and we will be helping out on Bullenbung Creek. We are looking at releasing the four wheeled elephant van kits which were made from modified four wheel cattle wagons at the show.

While we won’t have a stall at this weekends Rosehill show, AndIan Models will have some of our kits on their stall for sale (we will be right next to them doing a modelling clinic like last year).

We have acquired the patterns made by the late Peter Ford for the NSW outline kits he produced under the Far North Hobbies label. Over time we plan to release small batches of many of the kits he produced. This will involve making new etched nickel silver chassis for those kits that had cast brass solebars and axlebox assemblies and new bogies to replace those made from cast brass where suitable alternatives are not readily available.

Items produced from Peter’s patterns will be sold under the Stephen Johnson Models brand but with a pale blue label marked 'Peter Ford series'.

The first items to be released are the castings for the ALCO 251 Straight 6, ALCO 251 V12 and EMD 645 V16 prime movers. The ALCO V12 has two different versions - one is under repair with a cylinder head and rocker cover removed while the other is in operational condition.

These items are now available on our webshop under the 'Peter Ford series' tab or via the link https://stephenjohnsonmodels.com.au/product-category/sjm/kits/pfs/

The patterns for the 6 wheel supplementary tender are now finished, the cast taps arrived a couple of weeks ago and now the steps on the ends of the tank are done. The parts will now go into production for their approaching release when we have enough of them cast up. Its taken a while to get here but its been worth it.

While we won’t have a stall at the up coming Rosehill show, you can find us both at one of the workshop tables. We will have a modelling clinic along with samples of a few completed projects that will be eventually released when time permits.

After a long hiatus some more work has been done on the 6 wheel gin. All the parts have been finalised and the taps have been sent off to be cast in brass, its taken a while to finish it off but the end is in sight.

Its been a while since our last update but we have just added some new items to the webshop which can be found here. https://stephenjohnsonmodels.com.au/product-category/latest/

One of the new products is a replacement chassis for the Old Buggers early days wagons which comes in either a two axle or three axle variant with each having two different types of axleboxes to choose from. Its make up of a nickel silver etch, bearings and urethane castings. Due to the axleboxes being pretty fine they have a hole for the bearing cast into them to make it easier to fit them to the chassis etch.

We are also slowly going through the back orders for the BBP plough van kits and hope to have caught up on them in the near future. Unfortunately full time work has dragged this process out so apologies to those who are still patiently waiting on a kit.

Finally, we have some pictures of the next kits we will be releasing which will hopefully be at the Rosehill show this year. They are the 1921 CW and one of the types of Elephant van which were converted from a CW, these are designed for use of a hook coupler and wont have ends for a kadee. We have also made patterns for the 1903 CW with both the original end and the latter 1915 end with louvers in it. More on these kits at a later date.
