It's spring! And it is time to get some acupuncture and herbs to help manage your hayfever!

Did you know the World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes acupuncture as a viable complementary therapy for conditions including sinusitis.

WHO’s acupuncture guidelines acknowledge its growing acceptance and use for various respiratory conditions, including rhinosinusitis and allergic rhinitis.

Research cited in related clinical studies highlights acupuncture’s benefits in relieving sinusitis symptoms such as facial pain, nasal congestion, and headaches by stimulating specific points to reduce inflammation and improve sinus drainage.

Acupuncture has been shown to reduce sinusitis-related pain in about 60% of patients, improve nasal airflow, and modulate immune responses and inflammatory processes without serious adverse effects.

It is considered most effective when integrated with conventional therapies and lifestyle adjustments for holistic care.

Hay fever season is creeping up on us, the sneezing has already begun! Relieve symptoms of hayfever with acupuncture and herbs.

What is Perimenopause?

It is the buzz word in women's health!

Perimenopause is the gradual transition before menopause, when hormone levels naturally begin to shift.

It can start in our 40s and bring changes to our cycles, energy, and mood.

Understanding this phase can help you support your wellbeing with mindful lifestyle choices.

Perimenopause is a natural phase in a woman’s life, typically beginning in the mid-30s to late 40s. This transitional period can last anywhere from 2 to 10

"The low estrogen of menopause or post-menopause is NOT a deficiency."

The narrative around menopause is medicalising a natural transition. I see and hear 'hormonal deficiency' often used to describe our menopausal state and the reason why we are suffering so many symptoms - physical, emotional and mental.

There is so much more to menopause we don't understand yet. This includes the impact the demands of modern life has on our bodies.

Chinese medicine has a lot to offer women suffering though perimenopause and menopause. The perimenopausal symptoms don't miraculously stop at menopause. We still have hormonal fluctuations for a number of years afterwards. We have a background cycle without a period.

Our clinic was tagged in this reel - it is pretty funny and great to see posts to increase awareness about Chinese medicine.

And yes, in Chinese Medicine we do consider Menopause as the second spring in a women's life. Chinese medicine has amazing resources to help women through the change. Because our body changes, our brain changes, our outlook on life can change.

We often resist this change, judge what is happening to us, critical and embarrassed about the changes to our body, brain and symptoms.

Many of us will be going through perimenopause and menopause with great stress and difficult confusing symptoms. And in this article on the Every Mama Matters website I am highlighting the impact of stress on our body and how it can contribute to perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms.

Menopause Yoga is great to reduce cortisol levels, bringing our body out of the sympathetic nervous into a relaxation response. You can book classes on this link:

often coincides with major life changes.

We call these the stormy years.

Looking after aging parents, after children still at home or leaving home, retirement, divorce, loss of loved ones, or the appearance of health problems.

These all generate stress, uncertainty, and a feeling of loss of control.

We also may need to battle the negative stereotypes associated with menopause and aging, as well as social pressure to remain young, active, and efficient, can also fuel stress and anxiety.

On top of this stress, our body is changing.

Do we have the resources and resilience to deal with it all?

And if we don't, we will experience even more stress and pressure, leading to more symptoms?

It can be a vicious cycle!
