| "I've been seeing Jet for a couple of years now. I get regular dry needling and sports massages to manage the knots and tension that builds up from training daily, especially around my shoulder blades. We even do a bit of breathwork to get through the tougher areas 😅 but I always walk out feeling better and ready to smash another month."

| Most people never think about the muscles on the front of their shins until they start screaming at them. 😱

The Tibialis Anterior is one of these muscles, and although it's small it has a big impact, and is often undertrained, if trained at all.

Its primary function is dorsiflexion, lifting your foot upward toward your shin, and strengthening it can help:

• Reduce the incidence and severity of shin splints
• Improve ankle stability by increasing anterior compartment strength
• Enhance patellar tracking and overall gait mechanics through improved foot-strike control
• Increase balance, proprioceptive feedback, and neuromuscular coordination
• Reduce compensatory overload in the gastrocnemius–soleus complex
• Improve stride efficiency by optimising dorsiflexion angles and reducing unnecessary energy expenditure

Evidence-based interventions can be simple: kettlebell tib raises (as demonstrated), heel walks, slow eccentrics targeting anterior tibial loading, and utilising manual therapies such as sports and remedial massage or dry needling.

So whether you're a casual runner, training for marathons, new to the gym, or already a gym-rat, add a tib-ant exercise into your plan.

And if you run into any issues with lower-limb biomechanics - or simply want a tune-up - I can provide effective treatments to restore proper function and optimise your performance.

In a world that encourages hustle over rest, fast food over nourishment, and screens over stillness, choosing to care for your physical, mental, and emotional health is becoming a luxury.

Every time you prioritize sleep, movement, clean food, or mindfulness, you're quietly challenging systems that profit from burnout, illness, and disconnection.

Rebellion doesn't always look loud—it can be as simple and sacred as getting yourself a massage.

| In the midst of hectic schedules and overwhelming responsibilities, prioritizing self-care becomes even more crucial. When you lack the time to care for yourself, the risk of burnout and diminished well-being escalates. Neglecting self-care in such demanding circumstances can lead to increased stress, exhaustion, and a decline in overall mental and physical health.

Paradoxically, the busier you are, the more essential it becomes to carve out moments for self-care. Taking brief breaks to recharge, whether through mindfulness exercises, a relaxing massage, short walks, or just remembering to take a few deep breaths, can enhance focus and productivity. Neglecting self-care may result in a downward spiral of diminished efficiency and effectiveness, further exacerbating the time constraints.

🎯 Following Western anatomical and neurophysiological principles, Myofascial Dry Needling (MDN) involves the insertion of thin filament needles into trigger points—chronic knots within muscles and connective tissue—commonly associated with a range of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions.

Dry Needling works by creating a microscopic lesion that triggers a local inflammatory response, increasing blood flow and promoting tissue healing. This mechanical stimulation helps break up dysfunctional tissue, scar tissue, and adhesions.

It also disrupts the neuromuscular loop—where nerves continuously signal muscles to stay tight—by eliciting a local twitch response (LTR), a brief reflexive contraction followed by rapid relaxation. This resets muscle tone, recalibrates pain perception, reduces central sensitization, and ultimately provides long-lasting relief by addressing the root cause: dysfunctional motor endplates or taut muscle bands.

It’s a safe and effective method for relieving pain and improving range of motion, by releasing stubborn knots that massage alone often can’t resolve.

Your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia are the foundation of every movement you make—whether you're lifting, running, or sitting at a desk clicking a mouse all day. When this soft tissue becomes overused, underused, restricted, tight, or inflamed, it can limit mobility, reduce strength output, and throw off your biomechanical patterns.

That’s where we come in. By utilising massage, myofascial dry needling, and assisted stretching, we help your body move the way it’s meant to—smoothly, strongly, and pain-free.

💆‍♀️ Swedish massage promotes relaxation and overall well-being. It utilizes a combination of long, flowing strokes, kneading, tapping, and friction techniques to manipulate the body’s soft tissues.

This gentle approach helps increase blood circulation, reduce muscle tension, calm the nervous system and improve flexibility. Making it suitable for not only those looking to alleviate discomfort, but also unwind from stress or simply indulge in an hour of tranquility.

Pushing your body in training is only half the equation—real progress happens in recovery. That’s when your body rebuilds, adapts, and gets stronger. Whether you're smashing PBs or training for your first marathon, give your body the care it needs by booking regular treatments to keep functioning at your best.

Massage and other manual therapies boost circulation, reduce inflammation, remove knots and ease muscle tension, increase range of motion and help your nervous system shift into rest mode. This means faster recovery, fewer injuries, and better performance.

Move better, feel better, and recover like a pro with Body Align Health.

🤝 This hands-on technique involves moving through a series of controlled stretches that target the myofascial lines—interconnected pathways of muscles and fascia that form continuous networks throughout the body.

Unlike self-stretching, assisted stretching incorporates breathwork, static and dynamic techniques, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), allowing you to fully relax while the practitioner safely increases your range of motion.

This integrated approach helps release tension and reduce pain caused by tight or overactive muscles. It also improves posture, flexibility, and mobility; enhances performance; reduces the risk of injury; and supports overall biomechanical function.

Also available as an 'add-on' to compliment other treatments.
