What did we do this week?

We put our gross motor skills to the test on our indoor and outdoor obstacle courses.

We showed great hand-eye coordination when playing with the balls and rackets.

We put our imagination to use when engaging with our ocean animals, doll house and vehicles.

We practiced using our fine motor skills while exploring the connector blocks.

I often hear "I don't know how you do it" or " I could never do what you do".

A simple answer is this: yes at times it is tough. But, regardless of that, it is all worth it!

What a privilege it is to hold in my hand this tiny little hand. Keeping this little person safe as they are sound asleep. Being entrusted with someone else's most precious thing. While they are away 💕

I'm proud to provide a home away from home

It's a beautiful moment like this that makes me think back to when a friendship first started and all the memories in-between 🥹

There is something quite special about watching a group of friends learn and grow together. This is the second or third year for some of these friendships as they share their highs and lows together.

I can't wait to see what the rest for 2026 brings for us all 💕

Our friends are showing their well on their way to Cooperative play. This is an advanced stage of play. At this stage children interact, share common goals, and assign roles to achieve a shared outcome.

It moves beyond simple parallel play to focus on collaboration, teamwork, and communication, essential for developing social skills, conflict resolution, and empathy.

We enjoy our Morning tea, Lunch and Afternoon tea picnic style. Friends get to choose where and who they sit next to. Children are in-charge of getting their own lunch box out and packing it away. Supporting their independence.

Our meal times provide a great opportunity to talk amongst ourselves about our healthy food choices as well as sharing what we do and don't like. This is great for language development and learning to respect diversity amongst our peers.

Children are encouraged to wipe their own hands and faces to the best of their ability to support self help skills.

Our friends have been taking good care of Valkyrie!

What does a day in the life of Valkyrie look like?

Each friend says good morning as they pass her on the way in. Everyone helps as she is given fresh water, some veggies or crickets to enjoy.

When it's time for our morning play outside, Valkyrie is put in her tent to soak up the fresh air and sunshine.

We enjoy our afternoon tea at the base of her enclosure. Everyone loves discussing what they think she is thinking and who's food she is looking at. Then, she will have a run around the play room or the children assist in giving her a bath.

Finishing off her day by watching as everyone waves goodbye 🥰

She helps us learn valuable things like empathy and respect for other living things.

Happy Friday!

Our Friends have been working hard on their emotional and social well-being. Each day spent together, they are learning how to navigate the world around them and coincide with one another. As our friends grow, so does their play style, knowledge and abilities. Starting from Parallel play, through to Associative and Cooperative play 🧸

Our new friend is showing a big interest in diggers and truck. We expanded on the interest by exploring a mini truck sensory tray. 🚛

Everyone enjoyed taking part in the activity, sharing their ideas of what to do with the materials.
Some scooped and loaded up, others made rice bubble piles with their hand and others made it rain by sprinkling it.

All curious and creative ways to engage in play 💕

There has been an increased interest in pouring so we set up a pouring station to explore and engage in this topic of interest.

This is a simple activity that supports hand eye coordination. Using dispositions of learning such as curiosity, persistence and reflectivity. ( Learning outcome 4.1)

This is also a great way to help support learning some basic self help skills to develop our independence further.

After our group activity yesterday, our friends initiated a game of their own using similar skills we had just practices.

I observed as they work as a team to set up the bowling pins. Then navigating who got a turn and when.

They Implemented their knowledge regarding fairness, using great communication skills to ensure everyone understood and participated.

This wonderful moment reflects their growing knowledge and development in learning outcomes 3.1 Children become strong in their social and emotional wellbeing. As well as 4.3 Children transfer and adapt what they have learned from one context to another.
