Fuel Prices Are Up… But So Is the Heart of Our Volunteers

With fuel prices continuing to rise across Australia, many people are cutting back. But our volunteers are doing the opposite.

Every week, they show up in their own cars, using their own fuel, and giving up their weekends to make sure families don’t go without.

Through our Food Run program, they deliver a fortnights groceries right to the doorstep of Australians doing it tough. Quietly, consistently, and without asking for anything in return.

Mission Completed. Our Volunteers Delivered.

Today our incredible volunteer team successfully completed another Food Run, making sure families approved on our program received a delivery of every fortnight’s groceries right to their doorstep.

Because of their dedication, homes across Sydney received support that included:
• Fresh fruit
• Fresh vegetables
• Fresh meat
• Fresh chicken
• Pantry products
• Sanitiser products
• And so much more

This work simply would not happen without the people who give their time to help others. Every delivery is a reminder that community still shows up for one another.

Our Story

THE DREAM

Australia is a country that offers many opportunities to its citizens, hence many do not see those who are in desperate need of help just to put food on the table for their children. A couple in the city of Bankstown; itself was known as the most multicultural city in Australia, saw there was a gap in the support offered to families who struggle to purchase food to eat. In 2015 a dream was born to feed the hungry, help the afflicted, and lighten the sorrow of all peoples in the community. As Australian Muslims, they wanted to spread peace and hope through a unified love while breaking down the walls of bigotry, and racism; helping all, regardless of race, color, or religion. Wanting to give back to the country they both loved, together they approached several businesses for sponsorship. Once they found a butcher to provide starving families with fresh meat, and a green-grocer agreeing to provide fresh fruit and vegetable this same couple started a page, and Giving Back Australia was born. Operating out of a garage together this couple began putting together food packs and delivering fresh meat, fruit, and vegetables from the boot of their car; they began delivering food to the door of needy families throughout Sydney. Today Giving Back Australia runs several programs from supplying food, to assistance with utility bills through to a getting of drugs program.
