🎉CONGRATULATIONS KEVIN!

The Riverland Aboriginal Health Service recently partnered with Berri Regional Secondary College to celebrate a special milestone for our new Transport Officer, Kevin Sutton.

Kevin recently completed Year 12 – a huge achievement worth celebrating – but he couldn’t attend his school graduation, so Berri Secondary Regional College and the Riverland Aboriginal Health Service team hosted a special morning tea with his family and community.

Team Leader, Darryle Barnes, said he is passionate about celebrating and supporting his community.

“We were extremely proud to support Kevin on this important day and to partner with Berri Secondary College in recognising his hard work and dedication,” he said.

“Thank you to everyone who made the day possible, and for believing that every young person deserves to have their achievements recognised.”

Poisonous wild mushrooms start to appear as the weather gets colder and wetter.

These dangerous mushrooms can be found in the wild (like parks, forests and nature reserves), but also in your garden, lawn, mulch or compost.

Eating poisonous mushrooms can make a person very unwell or even cause death.
Only eat mushrooms that have been purchased from a reliable green-grocer or supermarket.

Keep an eye on children and pets outside, as mushrooms are in easy reach and can look interesting and attractive to eat.

If you or someone you know has eaten a wild mushroom, do not wait for symptoms to appear:
✔️ Call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 and they will tell you if you need medical attention.
✔️ If possible, take a sample or photo of the mushroom to help identify the species.
✔️ In an emergency, always call Triple Zero (000).
✔️ Call a vet immediately if your pet has eaten wild mushrooms.

Year 7 and 10 students can get free immunisations at school to protect against life threatening diseases. Here’s what your child can expect on immunisation day:

🔷 Students should eat breakfast, wear short sleeve shirts, and bring a water bottle to school.
🔷 A trained immunisation provider will give the immunisations.
🔷 The immunisation provider will check that a consent form has been signed, ask students if they are feeling well, and if they have any allergies.
🔷 Students will then wait for 10-15 minutes afterward to make sure they feel well.

Once immunised, your child will be protected against life threatening illnesses.

💙 THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by our Aged Care Expo last month!

The event was incredibly well-attended and provided a great opportunity to connect and engage with members of the local community.

There was a great range of valuable information on offer - stalls featured advice on legal and financial, in-home care, lifestyle and leisure, equipment, residential aged care, and so much more.

We received lots of positive feedback on the day from attendees and stallholders, and we are looking forward to hosting more opportunities like this in the future!
