Health isn’t just about not being sick or waiting until pain forces us to stop. It’s about the everyday things that quietly support the body — sleep, movement, nourishment, connection, and how we manage stress.

Often, the body gives us small signals first:
a little stiffness, ongoing fatigue, shallow breathing, or a sense of feeling “off.” These aren’t problems to ignore — they’re invitations to slow down and listen.

That magical time between Christmas and New Year’s… where no one knows what the date is, what’s in the fridge, or when the bins go out. It’s the perfect mix of chaos and relaxation but your body can still feel the effects of all the festivities!

Here are some simple stretch + unwind tips to help you feel human again during the blur week:

✨ Do a quick morning stretch (even if it’s 11am)
A gentle neck, shoulder, and lower-back stretch helps reset your body after all the sitting, slouching, and snacking.

✨ Move every time you ask “wait… what day is it?”
Take it as your cue for a 60-second stretch, slow breathing, or a walk to loosen up your spine.

✨ Unwind before bed (whenever that ends up being)
Try a slow spinal twist or child’s pose to calm tight muscles and relax your nervous system.

✨ Hydrate between leftovers
Your muscles and joints will thank you, hydration helps reduce stiffness and sluggishness.

✨ Be kind to yourself
This week is meant to be a little unstructured. Small stretches throughout the day keep your body happy while you enjoy the downtime.

👶🧠 Why letting babies move matters

A recent 2024 study found that children who were placed upright too early as babies, using walkers, jumpers, seats and similar devices, showed more challenges later with posture, coordination, reflex development and attention.

Why?
Because babies are designed to earn their milestones.

Tummy time, rolling, crawling and pulling to stand all provide essential input to the nervous system. These movements help build balance, body awareness, reflex integration and healthy brain development. When devices hold babies upright before they are ready, important neurological steps can be missed.

The good news? 💛
The nervous system is adaptable. With the right movement, play and gentle chiropractic care, children can revisit and strengthen the foundations they may have skipped.

🍪 School Holiday Sweetness: Sugar Cookies With the Kids! 🍪

School holidays are the perfect time to slow down, make a mess, and create some yummy memories together. Baking sugar cookies is simple, fun, and gives kids a chance to get creative from mixing and rolling to cutting out their favourite shapes.

The best part? Watching their proud little faces when the cookies come out of the oven!

Here’s our super simple sugar cookie recipe to try this week:

✨ Easy Sugar Cookies (Kid-Friendly)
Ingredients:
1 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2½ cups plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt

Instructions:
1️⃣ Beat butter + sugar until light and fluffy.
2️⃣ Add the egg and vanilla. Mix well.
3️⃣ Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until a soft dough forms.
4️⃣ Chill for 20–30 mins (helps kids with patience 😅).
5️⃣ Roll out the dough, cut into shapes, and place on a lined baking tray.
6️⃣ Bake at 180°C for 8–10 minutes, until edges are just golden.

Yes… ALL of them. Even the one you shoved in the top of the linen cupboard last January and swore you’d “remember next year.”

If your Elf hasn’t moved yet, don’t panic they’re probably just adjusting to the time zone… or waiting for the coffee to kick in. ☕😉
