Pearson's Services won a little acknowledgement prize!

This morning, some of our senior staff attended the Connect The Dot networking event for providers across SA. With an incredible and fun opportunity to network with a diverse range of providers, we were acknowledged as being THE MOST POPULAR - immensely unique in our services, such as our Animal Assistive Services on our 2 sprawling farms.

You will be seeing us at a lot more events coming up across metropolitan Adelaide soon, such as the Aged & Disability Expo coming up on August 7th at the Entertainment Centre.

Don't forget to come visit us and have a professional studio photo taken with one of our animals!

Today our office staff at Pearson's Services celebrated National Pyjama Day a little bit earlier than usual!

Everyone came in their comfortable pyjamas, except for our Lead Behavioural Practitioner Mike - who apparently sleeps in his uniform, because he is always ready to work with our clients:)

INFLATABLE WORLD - School Holiday Program

Our morning started at Pearson's House, where our bubbly participants indulged in a session with the jungle gym, building blocks, and Roblox, as a warm-up to the 2-hour session later at Inflatable World! Where they were able to engage in some acrobatic jumps and leaps, as well as ball games together with their mentors.

With the weather looking to be improving slightly this week, there are many more school holiday programs we are running across Adelaide!

FARMER FOR A DAY - School Holiday Program

What wild weather!? Yesterday, our compassionate animal lovers and aspiring farmers and nature lovers spent the whole day at Pearson's Farm, as part of our School Holiday Program ran by Pearsons Services.

The day began with our energetic participants walking around the farm grounds with Deb to collect native plants, sticks, and branches, which they would use to engage in Aboriginal dot painting as part of NAIDOC Week celebrations.

This was followed by the group splitting into two teams, with one to do the feeding rounds for the animals, and one to stay in the kitchen to work on delicious home-made damper! The two teams swapped roles halfway through, and were able to enjoy their hearty damper creations after for a group lunch.

The afternoon saw more time with our animals, especially the little ones in their nurseries. Here, our participants were able to learn more about the processes of care and hygiene for our newborn and young animals, as well as their developmental stages into becoming mature adult animals.

Check out the photo gallery from yesterday, and stay tuned for more coverage of our school holiday programs across Adelaide over the 2 weeks!

We're Hiring:

Occupational Therapist with a Love for Animals and Nature-Based Therapy

Location: Hackham & Clarendon.

We’re on the lookout for an Occupational Therapist who brings more than just clinical skills. We're looking for someone who is creative, flexible, passionate about animals, and open to working in diverse, sensory-rich environments that go beyond the traditional therapy room.

What We Offer:
Large OT Space – Hackham (PAHS House)
A large, equipped therapy room designed specifically for occupational therapy. The house also features a functional kitchen and laundry to support life skill development in real-world settings.

Therapeutic Farm – Clarendon
Set on 20 acres, this nature-based therapy space offers the chance to work outdoors and tailor sessions to suit sensory needs, regulation, and emotional wellbeing. It includes:
• A five-senses garden (sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste)
• Open fields and natural spaces
• Farm animals and native wildlife that support emotional regulation and connection
• 11 horses, ideal for therapists familiar with working with equines and see the value of using them as an ‘motivator’ within a therapy session, offering a unique way to explore social and emotional skills.

Why Join Us?
We are not your typical therapy service. We believe therapy can – and should – happen in the environments that best support our clients. Whether that’s in a garden, beside a horse, in a kitchen, or under a gum tree.

We're also registered providers, and are eager to work more closely with allied health professionals to develop new, client-centred ways of working.

Who We’re Looking For:
• A qualified and registered Occupational Therapist
• Someone who is flexible, creative, and open to alternative therapy approaches
• Experience or interest in nature-based, animal-assisted, or equine-assisted therapy is highly regarded
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors
• Passionate about supporting neurodiverse individuals and those with sensory needs

Let’s Talk
We’re open to flexible arrangements – full-time, part-time, or contractor model. If you're curious about working in a dynamic, nature-based, and animal-friendly environment, we’d love to hear from you.

To apply or learn more, get in touch, phone: 08 83222792 or email: support@pahs.com.au

Meet the Behavioural Support Team at Pearsons Services!

With over 20 years of combined experience, Sumith, Mike, and Jess bring a deep well of knowledge and dedication to their roles as Behavioural Support Practitioners. They work closely with our clients year-round to provide meaningful, person-centred support.

Mike, our Senior Lead Practitioner, has an extensive background in social work, particularly in the area of homelessness through organisations such as Junction Australia. Highly client-focused and passionate about his work, Mike is committed to bringing out the best in both our participants and his fellow team members.

Jess shares a similar background, with nearly a decade of experience spanning youth work, homelessness, and mental health. Known for her people-focused approach, Jess works closely with participants to support positive outcomes and empower them in their day-to-day lives.

Sumith brings a strong foundation in behaviour management and has delivered numerous training modules and workshops in the field. As the newest member of the team, he is enthusiastic about learning more about our participants and is already making a meaningful impact through his proactive and thoughtful approach.

Our Behavioural team can also utilise the farm for working with participants that don't engage well or relate to being outside with animals and nature. Together, our Behavioural Support Team is dedicated to creating supportive, empowering, and tailored strategies that make a real difference in the lives of those we work with.

Welcome to the Team, Sumith!

We are delighted to welcome Sumith as a recent addition to Pearson’s Services!

Sumith is a registered trainer and assessor, which means he is qualified to provide training to both clinical and support staff at PAHS. His expertise will be a valuable asset in supporting the continued professional development of our team.

Sumith grew up in India in the early 1980s. After completing a Master’s degree in Social Work and working in the field for four years, he moved to Australia in 2015. Since then, he has pursued further studies in Disability and worked in a mental health centre, building a solid foundation in the Australian health and community services sector.

Outside of work, Sumith enjoys keeping active. He is a keen runner, regularly plays soccer, and also enjoys both playing and watching cricket and tennis. In his downtime, you might catch him listening to the timeless tunes of Bryan Adams.

Over the past 10 years in Australia, one of Sumith’s favourite travel experiences has been visiting Kangaroo Island, appreciating its rugged natural beauty. He’s looking forward to a future trip to Cairns with his wife to explore the Great Barrier Reef, rainforests, and to enjoy the tropical climate that reminds him of his childhood in Kerala.

Please join us in giving Sumith a very warm welcome!
