TS III or TS IV — do you know which one to reach for? 🦷

Getting this right changes the predictability of your outcome. Swipe through for the full side-by-side breakdown — and save this for your next treatment planning session.

The short version:
→TS III — Your go-to for standard cases. Normal to moderately soft bone (Type I–III), single tooth anterior/posterior, standard extraction socket sites.
→TS IV — When the case is more demanding. Soft bone (Type III–IV), immediate post-extraction placement, maxillary sinus cases, wide molar sites, or where high initial stability is critical.

Both share triple-thread design for fast insertion and internal hex connection — the key difference is the taper angle (1.5° vs 6°) and what that means for each bone type.

Here’s the full 9-step workflow for completing a TruAbutment ioConnect All-On-X case using 3Shape TRIOS — from setup to sending to the lab.

1. Activate the All-on-X workflow — select a bridge with 4+ implants, mark implant and pontic teeth
2. Select the TruAbutment ioConnect™ dedicated workflow
3. Scan the lower provisional using standard strategy — capture enough gingiva for trimming
4. Scan the antagonist arch
5. Scan the buccal bite with temporary restoration in place
6. Trim away the provisional using the automatic trim tool in the HS cap scan step
7. Place HC scan caps and scan, ensuring full coverage of each cap and surrounding soft tissue
8. Insert ioConnect flags and scan — capture full hexagon shape on each scan body
9. Post-process and send the completed case to the lab

One of the most common questions we get from Australian clinicians: “TS III or TS IV — which one do I use?”

The answer depends on the case in front of you. Here’s how to think about it:

→ TS III — Your go-to for standard cases. Normal to moderately soft bone (Type I–III), single tooth anterior/posterior, standard extraction socket sites.
→ TS IV — When the case is more demanding. Soft bone (Type III–IV), immediate post-extraction placement, maxillary sinus cases, wide molar sites, or where high initial stability is critical.

Both implants share triple-thread design for fast insertion and an internal hex connection. The key differentiator is the taper angle — 1.5° in the TS III for standard bone, and 6° in the TS IV for enhanced initial stability in softer or more demanding sites.

Is your patient ready for an implant — or do they need a bone graft first?
It's one of the most important clinical questions in implant dentistry, and getting it wrong can cost your patient time, money, and outcomes.

Our latest Educational Series post breaks down the 5 key signs that indicate a patient needs a bone graft before implant placement:
✅ Insufficient ridge width (less than 6mm)
✅ Vertical bone deficiency (more than 4mm loss)
✅ Post-extraction socket defects
✅ Sinus pneumatisation (less than 5mm residual bone height)
✅ Failed previous implant site
Each sign comes with a clinical tip to help you manage the case with confidence — including how Osstem's bone graft products and Sinus lift Kit can support more predictable outcomes.

👉 Browse our full bone grafting range at the Osstem Australia eshop: https://denall.com.au/regenerative/
💬 We'd love to hear from you — which of these signs do you encounter most often in practice? Drop your answer in the comments below.
