🎄✨ Looking for a festive read with big learning potential? The Night Before Christmas is a holiday classic we love using in therapy! It’s a great book to add to the stockings.

📚 It’s perfect for:
⭐️ Building Christmas vocabulary (chimney, sleigh, reindeer)
⭐️ Targeting tricky sounds like /s/, /sh/, /r/
⭐️ Sequencing and retelling stories
⭐️ Talking about kindness and giving

Who knew one story could do so much?

🎄 Let’s describe that Elf on the Shelf 🧝‍♂️

As your child finds the Elf each day, try chatting about what the Elf looks like and what they’re doing:
✨ “He’s wearing a red hat!”
⛄ “She’s holding a spoon!”
🔔 “The elf is messy!”
🎁 “He looks happy!”

By doing this, you’re helping your little one learn describing words, build short sentences, and grow their confidence - all through festive fun! 🎄✨

🎅💌 Has your child started writing their Christmas wish list?

Why not turn your child’s wish list into a learning moment by helping them write a letter to Santa! ✨

It’s not just festive fun, it’s a sneaky way to build their language, spelling, and storytelling skills (and Santa gets a peek at what’s on their wish list too!)

Here’s how to sprinkle in some learning while keeping the holiday spirit alive:
🎁 Get descriptive! Ask your child to explain what they want and why: “I’d love a shiny red race car because it zooms super fast!”
🕒 Use time words: Help them sequence their ideas with phrases like “First, I’d love a book about space. Then, maybe a cuddly teddy bear.”
✍️ Make it sparkle: Review their spelling and punctuation together (like little elves polishing a toy before it goes to the North Pole!)

Santa’s mailbox is open, and we know he’ll be thrilled to read their thoughtful, creative letters. Let the festive writing begin! 🎄

🎲✨ Speech sound practice doesn’t have to feel like ‘homework’.

Here are some creative ways to sneak it into everyday fun:
🎯 Target words in games: hide your speech cards around the house and go on a ‘sound treasure hunt’.
🎲 Board game twist: say a word with your sound before rolling the dice.
🧸 Toy talk: make the sound part of play with dolls, cars, or Lego (“The car goes sssssuper fast!”).
🎤 Silly challenges: who can say the word in the funniest voice? Whisper it, sing it, or say it like a robot!

💡 The trick? Keep it light and playful. A few minutes often is better than one long session. Kids learn best when they’re having fun (and parents do too 😉).

Sign language is a form of Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) -another way for a child to express their thoughts, needs, and feelings. 🌟

Research shows that…
🖐 Using sign language does not interfere with speech development. In fact, it can support language growth by giving children an early way to communicate while their verbal skills develop!
🖐 Children who use signs often have larger vocabularies and stronger communication skills.
🖐 Using sign also reduces frustration and behavioural difficulties, giving children a clear way to express themselves before they can talk. 💬✋

So if you’re wondering whether sign language might “hold your child back”, we know that it actually helps them move forward!

✨ Research tells us that breathing through our nose is the answer 👃🏼Nasal breathing (rather than breathing though our mouth) throughout the day and at night is the gold standard and is important in promoting good sleep 😴 and healthy dental and oral habits 👄
