“PTSD can happen to anyone”
Australian Resource Centre for PTSD was founded by Michelle New, herself having being diagnosed with Complex PTSD (Multiple traumas), TBI (Traumatic Brain injury), stage 3 Cancer and Fibromyalgia. Michelle was a patient on a PTSD specific ward named Xavier at the St John of God Hospital, located in North Richmond, NSW. She spent many months, years attending PTSD education, treatment and counselling.
Michelle has over 25 years of “Lived experience” with Complex PTSD and understands firsthand the pathways to recovery and healing. If our carers and partners are not supported in the same way our Military and First responder families are supported there will be more secondary PTSD, Mental health issues such as anxiety and depression within the family. Our goal is to help keep families together with a safe place to recharge their batteries, be supported and educated on self-care for themselves and their entire family including the loved one living with PTSD.
Believing that the families of all Australian’s living with PTSD need to be cared for. There is very limited support for Australian Civilians’ and their families living with PTSD.
