Melbourne ENT Group (MEG) are a dynamic and innovative ENT specialist and sub-specialist practice applying world’s best evidence and state-of-the-art techniques in the care of our patients. All specialists are fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and have undergone further sub-specialist training both in Australia and Overseas. Each surgeon provides consultation both in urban Melbourne, and rural Victoria. Each surgeon holds both public and private hospital appointments, maximizing your access to best practice care. Each surgeon actively participates in formal public and private hospital education programs for GPs, specialists, trainees and students, and informal General practice visits. We are dedicated to maintaining active & supportive relationships with GPs and other specialists in each patients care team, and value the education we receive and are able to give one another. MEG is supported by a dedicated team of administrative, support and allied health staff.

Tinnitus is more than just ringing, it can sound like buzzing, humming, whistling or even drilling and can significantly affect concentration, sleep and overall wellbeing for patients.

This Tinnitus Awareness week, MEG acknowledges and celebrates the wonderful work that our Audiologist colleagues do to assist and support our patients to manage their condition.

While there’s no surgical or medical treatment that ENT’s can offer that reliably eliminates tinnitus, our Audiology colleagues are at the forefront of management strategies which might include:

• Sound enrichment (background noise, white noise, environmental sound generators, especially at night)

• Stress management and sleep hygiene, as tinnitus is often exacerbated by fatigue, anxiety, and stress

• Personalised education and reassurance

• Information/coordination of tinnitus-focused counselling or CBT-based therapy, which has the strongest evidence for reducing tinnitus-related discomfort/distress

So if you’ve been referred by your GP for Tinnitus treatment, please don’t hesitate to let us know if we can guide you towards a specialist Tinnitus Audiology clinic close to you.

Farewell to our KG!
This week we bid a sad farewell to Kirralee, who leaves MEG to start her nursing career. We've driven her mad with how much we're going to miss her but couldn't be prouder or happier for her. Thank you for everything KG & all our very MEG-y best 😭🩺❤️
