How long can a facelift last?

While results can vary, the effects of a facelift can be expected to last around 10 years. It’s more about resetting the clock. You will continue to age but from a better starting point again. Factors like genetics, lifestyle, sun exposure and skincare can all play a role over time. A consultation with Dr Sophie Ricketts can help determine what’s suitable for your individual goals.

If you're considering male breast reduction, understanding who may be suitable for this procedure is an important first step. It may be an option if breast tissue has not responded to lifestyle changes or medical treatments. A good candidate typically maintains stable health and weight, has realistic expectations, and is open to quitting smoking if needed.

Making an informed decision, supported by research and discussion with a qualified plastic surgeon, is key.

Bruising around the eyes after rhinoplasty is not uncommon and always temporary - lasting about a week. It occurs due to small blood vessels bleeding under the skin during surgery, particularly when work is done on the nasal bones. Everyone heals a little differently, and some may notice more discolouration than others in the days following the procedure. I use a medication called TXA (tranexamic acid) that reduces eye bruises significantly. Following post operative instructions such as icing and resting with your head elevated helps too.

If you’re planning surgery and have questions, we’re here to guide you through the process.

Otoplasty, commonly known as ear surgery, can be considered from around the age of 5 to 6, typically when the ears have reached near-adult size. At this age, children are often more aware of their appearance, and early intervention may help avoid unwanted attention or comments at school.

If you’re wondering whether your child may be a candidate for this procedure, we’re here to answer any questions you may have.

Scarring is a common concern when it comes to facial surgery. In most cases, incisions are made along the natural creases of the eyelid, which helps keep any scars discreet. With time, they typically become less noticeable. Even within a few weeks they are well healed. Each recovery journey is different, so we’ll guide you through what to expect and how to support healing.

The Practice

As a specialist plastic surgeon, my practice comprises both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery utilising contemporary techniques. I am passionate about aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery and undertook further subspecialist training in this field. I also derive great satisfaction from assisting patients achieve the best version of themselves and offer a highly qualified service in breast and body surgery. My team of support staff and nurses help me provide a wholistic, professional service where realistic outcomes are achieved with care and compassion.

I also hold specialist consultant plastic surgery positions at The Alfred and St Vincent’s Hospitals in Melbourne. I am also an active volunteer with Interplast, a not-for-profit whose mission is to ‘repair bodies and rebuild lives’ by providing surgical services to patients as well as mentorship and teaching to local surgeons in areas of the Asia Pacific.
