The good news is that many skin lesions can be treated in-office under local anaesthetic.
More advanced or complex lesions often require a visit to the operating theatre for removal and appropriate reconstruction.
Dr Ek will discuss these options with you, organise appropriate treatment and arrange postoperative follow-ups to monitor your healing and outcome. He is trained in the management of all forms of skin cancers and has published several articles on the management of non-melanoma skin cancers. He is also part of the multidisciplinary melanoma team at the Alfred Hospital.

Australia has the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world, and despite recent campaigns to raise sun safety awareness, for a lot of us, the damage has already been done.
Dr Ek is trained in the management of all forms of skin cancers and has published several articles on the management of non-melanoma skin cancers. He is also part of the multidisciplinary melanoma team at the Alfred Hospital.

There are two breast reconstruction techniques that Dr Ek commonly performs:
Flap Reconstruction
During this type of reconstruction, Dr. Ek will take your body tissue (common donor sites are your lower abdomen – DIEP flap – or inner thigh – TUG flap) and attach that tissue to the breast to simulate a new shape. This procedure typically involves complex microsurgery to create a healthy appearance to the breast. While initially a longer and more complex operation, flap reconstruction is advantageous in that it uses your own skin and tissue to create a look that is both enduring and blends seamlessly.
Breast Implants Reconstruction
An implant is used during this procedure to restore the shape and fullness of the breast. Implant reconstruction in Melbourne requires less surgery and recovery time than flap reconstruction. This will typically involve silicone implants, which come in an extensive array of sizes and shapes to accommodate the body proportions of every patient.
