HealthBarn USA Garden-to-Table Nutrition Learning for Everyone!

We teach children (and the grown-ups who love them) about delicious, nutritious food and the healthy lifestyle that goes with it! And, now our founder, Stacey Antine, just published "Appetite for Life," HarperOne, if you can join us on the farm! For more than twenty years, through kids' classes and summer camps at Bergen-County, NJ and Westchester County, NY based HealthBarn USA; at our elementary and middle school "Try it, you'll like it!" school assemblies from New York to California; in national media appearances such as the Rachael Ray Show and CNN's House Calls with Dr. Sanjay Gupta and on networks like PBS and Nickelodeon; speaking engagements from parent teacher organizations to major medical conference; and through our website, columns and articles, we are committed to helping families raise their nutrition literacy through hands-on learning about where food comes from, and why fresh tastes best and is best for our bodies, minds and souls. As a result, HealthBarn USA has emerged as a major force for positive change in the lives of children and their families!

Spring fever is contagious!
As the temperatures rise, the park is filling with neighbors, children, and furry friends again.

Just last week the garden was buried under a thick blanket of snow. But with the rain and warmer weather, the soil has thawed… and now the fun begins.

Isn’t it amazing to think that nature was growing the whole time beneath the snow? The bulbs kept reaching upward just as they’re meant to—no complaining, simply doing what they need to do to grow and bring us joy.

The daffodils and tulips are already peeking through the earth. Rhubarb and horseradish are emerging too. Lemon balm and oregano can already be picked, and there’s even a little kale sprout left from last fall. Even the sorrel leaves are ready to taste.

It’s such a joy to gently clean up the garden, being careful not to disturb the new life quietly waking up beneath our feet.

And yet, the frozen pond and small iceberg just outside the garden remind us… cool weather may still pay us another visit.

Nature did the hard work all winter… now the fun begins.

Here’s to another incredible year of planting, harvesting, and tasting the magic of real food from the garden! 🌿✨

Happy Valentine’s Day ā¤ļø

Our founder, Stacey, often talks about the ā€œhappiness hormoneā€ we’re constantly chasing — that quick hit of dopamine from sugar, scrolling, shopping, or nonstop doing. While those bursts can feel good in the moment, constantly running on adrenaline and dopamine can stress the immune system and leave us depleted.

Lasting happiness isn’t about the next spike — it’s about balance.
✨ Nourishing whole foods
✨ Time in nature
✨ Meaningful connection
✨ Movement and rest
✨ Gratitude and mindfulness

We’re excited to share that this message is featured in the February issue of Ridgewood & Ho-Ho-Kus Magazine! In the article, Stacey dives deeper into how to shift from quick highs to steady joy — supporting serotonin, oxytocin, and your natural rhythms for true well-being.

This Valentine’s Day, let’s choose love that lasts… for ourselves and for each other. šŸ’›

Love is in the air! šŸ’•
We’re so grateful to partner with Ridgewood Newcomers to spread the love and inspire kids to help other kids. This Healing Meals cookie bake-off was extra special—bags filled with love notes and words of encouragement, ending with a joyful cookie celebration for all. The kitchen smelled delicious, the energy was pure joy, and it was the sweetest Valentine’s Day gift. šŸŖšŸ’Œ.

Our winter classes prepped and cooked Appetite for Life’s BBQ Turkey Pizza—so they can recreate it at home for game day! šŸ• These kids are flexing their kitchen skills, working together, and having a blast. Teamwork makes it delicious… everyone wins.

Who doesn’t love a warm, soft pretzel? We make ours with wholesome whole-wheat flour and simple, real ingredients, making it fun and easy for young chefs to create from scratch. It’s the perfect snack, especially paired with fresh fruit or crunchy veggies. Twists, braids, hearts, or knots — all shapes are encouraged as kids roll, shape, and bake their own delicious creations!
