✅Shockwave therapy is a proven, non-invasive treatment for plantar fasciitis that promotes pain relief and tissue healing, offering hope for those with stubborn heel pain.

✅Most patients experience noticeable improvement, often within just a few sessions, with research showing significant long-term benefits in pain reduction and function.

How Shockwave Therapy Works ?

👊Shockwave therapy delivers targeted sound waves to the affected heel, stimulating blood flow and activating your body’s natural healing processes.

👊The treatment is quick, safe, and performed in-clinic, usually requiring minimal to no downtime afterward.

Effectiveness for Plantar Fasciitis

🦶Studies report that 80% of people see a significant decrease in pain levels with shockwave therapy.

🦶Many patients experience relief after the first session, though a course of several treatments may be recommended for lasting results.

🦶Long-term studies confirm that benefits often continue for months to years after treatment, improving quality of life and reducing chronic pain.

Why Choose Shockwave Therapy?

⚡️Non-surgical and medication-free

⚡️Fast relief and minimal side effects

⚡️Proven, research-backed results for plantar fasciitis

If heel pain is slowing you down, ask how shockwave therapy can help get you moving again! Consult with a podiatrist at The Heel Centre to see if this innovative option is right for your needs.

Achilles Tendinopathy, a condition marked by pain and degeneration in the Achilles tendon, is especially common in adults over 40. As we age, the risk for this injury rises due to natural degenerative changes, decreased blood supply to the tendon, and more wear-and-tear from years of activity.

Prolotherapy Injection for Plantar Fasciitis: What You Need to Know 💉💉💉

What is Plantar Fasciitis? 🦶🦶🦶

Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain, resulting from thickening and small degenerative tears of the plantar fascia. It often leads to pain in the heel and arch, especially with your first steps in the morning.

What is Prolotherapy?

Prolotherapy is a regenerative injection therapy designed to help heal chronic injuries like plantar fasciitis. It involves injecting a natural solution—usually a concentrated glucose (sugar) solution—directly into the affected area of your foot. This stimulates your body’s natural healing response by causing a mild, controlled inflammation, which encourages the growth of new, healthy tissue and strengthens the plantar fascia.

How Does It Work?

The injection triggers a healing response, increasing blood flow and bringing healing cells to the area.
This process helps repair and reinforce the plantar fascia, reducing pain and improving foot function over time.
Most patients notice a gradual decrease in pain and a return to normal activities after a series of treatments.
What Are the Benefits?

Pain Relief: Many people experience significant pain reduction, often after other treatments have failed.
Improved Healing: Prolotherapy can accelerate tissue repair and provide a long-term solution, not just a temporary fix.
Non-Surgical: It’s a minimally invasive option, with fewer risks and a quicker recovery compared to surgery.
Enhanced Function: Strengthening the plantar fascia can improve your foot’s function and help prevent future injuries.
Is It Safe?

Prolotherapy is generally considered safe, with the most common side effects being mild pain or swelling at the injection site, which usually resolves within a few days
What Does the Research Say?

Studies show prolotherapy is effective in reducing pain and improving foot function, especially for chronic cases that haven’t responded to other treatments
Its benefits can last at least six months, and it may offer better long-term results than corticosteroid injections.

🦶Achilles tendinopathy is a painful condition affecting the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscles to the heel bone. 🦶

🦶It is often caused by overuse or repetitive strain, making it common among athletes and active individuals, but it can also affect those who are less active.🦶

✅Key facts about Achilles tendinopathy:

✅It involves thickening, degeneration, and inflammation of the tendon.

👊Symptoms include pain at the back of the heel, stiffness, swelling, tenderness, and difficulty walking or bearing weight.

👊Pain often worsens after activity and may be worse in the morning or when climbing stairs or hills.

👊The condition can range from mild discomfort during activity to severe pain that limits all weight-bearing activities.
Causes:

👊Sudden changes in exercise intensity or surface (e.g., hill running or concrete instead of grass).

👊Anatomical factors like flat feet, tight or weak calf muscles, or overpronation.

Overuse from sports involving running, jumping, or repetitive stopping and starting.

⚡️Treatment options:

👣Rest and avoiding activities that aggravate the tendon.
👣Physical therapy including stretching and strengthening exercises tailored to the individual.
👣Medications such as NSAIDs to reduce pain
👣Advanced therapies like shockwave therapy
👣Custom orthotics to support foot alignment and reduce tendon stress.

If you experience persistent heel pain or stiffness, consult a The Heel Centre for diagnosis and personalised treatment plan🦶

🏉 Footy season is here 🏉

🦶As your trusted podiatrist, I'm here to help you find the perfect boots for your feet. Here are some top tips for choosing the right AFL football boots:🦶

✅Fit is key: Ensure there's a thumb width between your longest toe and the end of the boot

✅Consider your position: Different positions require different boot features. Key position players may benefit from more supportive boots like the Asics Lethal Ultimate

✅Mind the drop: Look for boots with a 10mm heel-to-toe drop to reduce strain on your calves, achilles and heels.

✅Width matters

✅Surface matters: Choose studs appropriate for the grounds you'll be playing on most often

✅Quality counts: Invest in good materials like kangaroo leather for better foot feedback and comfort

Remember, the right boots can enhance your performance and help prevent injuries. If you're unsure or experiencing foot pain, don't hesitate to book an appointment with us. Let's keep your feet happy and your game strong this season! 💪👟
