Great news!
You know that goal of 10,000 steps that you've been struggling to hit forever?? It may have been too high after all!
A recent study by the University of Sydney found that walking 'just' 7000 steps a day can lower the risk of an early death by up to 47 percent.

What do we see at Arete Effect?

Typically, new members come to us with steps around 4000 - 5000 per day.
Our MOST COMMON steps goal is 6000 per day, and this has numerous health benefits. In fact, anything over 2000 steps per day will improve your health.

At Arete Effect we are masters at goal setting, ensuring that the goal you own is the goal you CAN ACHIEVE. That's why we have NEVER given a steps goal of 10,000 steps per day to any member, ever.

🎯Where would we set your goal?

1. Always start with where you are today.
2. Check out your average steps taken over the last 7-day period. This is your baseline.
3. Increase this daily goal by no more than 10%.
4. Keep this goal until you have achieved it consistently for 4 weeks in a row.....
5. REWARD yourself for your achievement! (yes, chocolate is my preferred treat :-))
6. Repeat!

The system that you use for measuring, recording and motivating will be personal to you - think checklists on the fridge, reminders in an app, notes on the mirror, telling a friend or asking them to join you..... whatever works for you is what you want here. Your key to success lies in breaking down the big goal (e.g. increasing from 4000 steps to 7000 steps) into smaller goals, by going through stages.

Consistently hitting 6000 steps per day beats occasionally hitting 7000 steps (but mostly 4000 or 5000) every time.

Believe in yourself and your body will follow.

Feeling wiped? Training through exhaustion isn’t always the answer. I'm a huge fan of listening to your body and adjusting your training accordingly. Having a heavy gym session planned for today may work well on paper, but in real life perhaps a short walk or yoga session would be more beneficial.

If you're not feeling your training today because of low energy, try:

🙆A short mobility flow

🚶🏼‍♀️A walk outdoors

🧘Breathwork or meditation

💦Prioritising sleep and hydration

Rest is where the magic happens.

Let your movement support your energy — not steal it.
