BOOK LOVE! 📚❤️📖
I’m doing the Goodreads Book Challenge this year, including ONLY real books, as audible ‘reading’ is cheating in my view. Cleaning the bathroom or driving while listening to a narrated book cannot possibly afford the same comprehension or absorption as physically holding & soaking in the content of a few hundred pages of stories & sub stories! Just my view…don’t lynch me.
Anyway as those who know me well would guess…most of my reads involve faeries, witches, apothecaries, alchemy, magick, or fantasy. The other books are either spiritual (past lives, Ancient Egyptian Goddess rituals & practices, the lives between lives etc), or self help books (e.g those by Tosha Silva, Tony Robbins, Jim Rohan, Jean Sheehan etc).
This gorgeous sequel book entitled “Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands” by Heather Fawcett is one of my favs so far. Who doesn’t like a quest to lands of Faerie, brimming with colourful creatures, dangers & enchantment at every turn, hidden faerie doors, shapeshifters, brownies who bake bread that stays warm, & eccentric villagers whose methods of dealing with errant fae should be a lesson for us all?!
The main characters, a Dryadologist scholar & an exiled Faerie King are flawed & quite frankly, unlovable, but in this glorious tapestry of faerie worlds, that is of no consequence.
I won’t give anything away, but I highly recommend this series to like-minded people, & I can’t wait to read the next one!
If you have managed to read this post all the way to the end…the first book is just as good, entitled “Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries”.
Please let me know if you have read these books or any other good reads on similar topics.
Blessed be! 🧚🧙♀️👑🌳
