Ringwood Medical Health Centre will be closed this Friday and Saturday, September 26–27 as we join the rest of Victoria in celebrating the AFL Grand Final long weekend.

Flu Vaccine Appointments Here!

Ringwood Medical Health Centre is now accepting appointments for the flu vaccine! Protect yourself and your loved ones this flu season.

Give us a call at (03) 9879 1688 to schedule your appointment or book online through our website. The vaccine costs $15 per person, unless you are eligible for the free vaccine.

Health tip!
Do you need to spend less time in front of the TV or with screens?
Excessive screen time can lead to poor health and developmental outcomes.
For children younger than 5 years, there is strong evidence that screen time has negative effects on weight, social and psychological wellbeing and motor and cognitive development.
For children and younger people aged 5-17 years, screen time can negatively effect weight and diet, behavioural problems and psychological health.
We can all limit our leisure activity screen time, work activities (take breaks) and ensure we have adequate physical activity each day!

2024 FLU VACCINES.
PRIVATE FLU VACCINES are now available.
The vaccine is recommended for everyone aged six months and above, and is particularly important for those who are at higher risk of complications from the flu. Price is $15 per vaccination.

FREE FLU VACCINES for eligible people from National Immunization Program will be available early April. We will keep you posted as soon as we get further information. We are not taking bookings for these as yet. If you are over 65 years of age it is recommended to wait for this type of flu vaccine in the government stock. Although any vaccine you can get to protect you this flu season is the best one.

See your doctor regularly for health checks and screening tests.

We offer advice about the National Screening Program which includes cervical screening, bowel screening and mammograms.

We recommended regular blood pressure checks, skin checks, cholesterol tests, heart health checks, diabetes screening, regular eye, dental and hearing tests, mental health checks and vaccination reviews to ensure you are up to date.

The frequency of checks will depend on your individual circumstances.

We have the Shingrix vaccine in stock!
This vaccine is a non-live vaccine that is highly effective in the prevention of herpes zoster (shingles) and its complications, including post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN).

The National Immunisation Program now funds a 2-dose schedule for eligible groups:
*Adults aged 65 years of age and over
*Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander adults aged 50 years and over
*Immunocompromised adults aged 18 and over with specific conditions.

Second Shingrix doses are available 2-6 months after the first vaccination. You need 2 doses to complete the course.

What is Gonorrhoea?
It is a common s*xually transmitted infection caused by bacteria and can be passed on during s*x.
Testing involves urine and swab samples.
Once treated with antibiotics, it is less likely to come back if you tell your partner/s and make sure that your current partner/s see a doctor and get tested. Using condoms is the best way to protect yourself from gonorrhoea and other STI’s.
