After a plastic surgery procedure, you many notice a hardness, water retention/swelling, hematoma or lumpiness to the areas treated. This is normal right after your surgery.

This post-surgical lymphedema is caused by inflammation and trauma to the tissue surrounding the area.

Dry brushing is the process of using a brush with stiff bristles against the skin to enhance blood flow and increase drainage of lymphatic fluids, thereby flushing toxins from the body.
It is not skin exfoliation, but rather a unique, gentle twist on performing self manual lymphatic drainage. Another potential tool in our lymphedema toolbox which may or may not work for you.

The brush should never break the skin and it also shouldn’t hurt.

Dry brushing is not recommended for people with sensitive skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and excessive dry skin, as it can aggravate the condition and potentially cause painful irritation.
