An Extreme Fire Danger Rating has been forecast for tomorrow, Wednesday 11 February 2026, in the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, Central, North East and West and South Gippsland forecast districts. Take action now to protect your life and property – fires will spread quickly and be extremely dangerous.

A Total Fire Ban has also been declared for these forecast districts.

This means no fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air.

Stay up to date with warnings and incidents via VicEmergency: www.emergency.vic.gov.au

Fire Dangers Ratings are forecast using Bureau of Meteorology data up to four days in advance, but can change on the day. Therefore, it is important to check the Fire Danger Rating for your area every day and know which rating is your trigger to act.

☀️ KEEPING MOB SAFE IN THE HEAT ☀️

We hope everyone stays cool in this heat this week. It is a real scorcher across Victoria, and we want to make sure everyone is staying safe and looking after one another.

How to stay cool:

✅ Find the shade: Use the aircon or fans. If yours isn't working, head down to the shops or the library to soak up their cool air.

💧 Drink up: Keep the water bottle handy and keep sipping all day, even if you don’t feel thirsty yet.

🚗 Never leave kids or pets in the car: It only takes a minute for a car to become like an oven. Not worth the risk!

Keep an eye on the BOM and Emergency Victoria for updates. Stay deadly, stay hydrated, and look out for your neighbors! 💧🙏

⚠️ WEATHER ALERT: HEATWAVE COMING IN

The weather outlook has shifted. Fire risk remains Moderate to High, but we have some big heat spikes coming this Saturday and Tuesday.

The Mallee is copping a 5-day heatwave with tops of 48°C. With those high overnight temps, the heat won’t be letting up much. Plan ahead, stay out of the sun where you can, and look after each other.

Forecasts and past weather for oceans, rivers and lakes, heatwaves, tropical cyclones, aviation, space, alpine areas and more

Sharing a recipe for homemade mac and cheese is a wonderful way to bring our families together around a meal that is filling, affordable, and full of comfort. By sharing these easy steps from Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation Inc, we hope to support our mob in creating a warm, hearty meal from scratch that brings a little extra joy to the table and keeps everyone’s bellies full.

☀️ STAY SAFE: 3 Days of Extreme Heat Ahead! ☀️

With extreme temperatures forecasted over the next 3 days, we want to remind everyone to stay cool and stay safe. Whether you’re working indoors or outdoors, heat exposure is no joke!

Heat-related illnesses—from heat cramps to heat stroke—can be serious, but the good news is they are preventable.

Look out for one another: Please assess the risks, stay hydrated, and make the right calls to keep yourself, your clients, and your families safe.

Stay cool out there! 🥤💧
