Growing up in Rockhampton Cat graduated from the University of Queensland in 2001. Not long afterwards, she found her way to Darwin where she spent 10 years working with the ADF.
During this time, Cat identified a need for Women’s Health Physiotherapy, completing her Graduate Certificate in Continence and Women’s Health from Curtin University of Technology in 2009. Following this, she commenced her Masters in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy, moving to Canberra in 2012 to complete her clinical training with the Australian Rugby Academy and the ACT Brumbies.
Cat worked in private practice with a focus on sports and musculoskeletal injuries, including time with the ACT Academy of Sports until 2018. She has worked with athletes from amateur level up to Olympic and Commonwealth Games in sports including gridiron, field hockey, boxing, rowing, basketball, show jumping, barrel racing, swimming, and of course rugby.
Following her involvement with Rugby 7’s at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Cat decided to look further afield.
Until recently Cat has been working in the UK, where she worked with the Oxford University Hospitals Women’s and Men’s Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. She also took on the role of Lead Physiotherapist at Wi******er Rugby Football Club holding the role for 4 seasons.
After being “locked out” during the pandemic, Cat has now returned home to warmer pastures. Her areas of clinical interest are widespread including:
Ø Sports and Exercise related injuries
Ø Orthopaedics
Ø Obstetrics and postnatal musculoskeletal conditions
Ø Chronic lumbar and pelvic pain
Ø Pelvic nerve dysfunction in both males and females
Ø Promotion of athletic performance and injury prevention in females at all levels of sports involvement
She incorporates manual therapy, exercise prescription, as well as dry needling and western medical acupuncture into her management, as well as hydrotherapy and clinical yoga. Where indicated, she has a strong belief in treating the whole body, not just the local symptoms.
Cat believes in a strong patient focus, involving them in the process and empowering them to take control of their recovery.
