🎉 Big milestone! 🎉

One of our participants has just moved into their very own supported independent living unit! 🏡 After a short time in shared accommodation, they now have a whole unit to themselves — independence at last!

Tucked away on a quiet, peaceful private street, their new home is also close to a small shopping centre and local facilities, making everyday life easier and more convenient. 🛒✨

A huge thank you to our amazing support team for making the move smooth, safe, and stress-free. 💙

Here’s to new beginnings, independence, and all the adventures that come with having your own place! 🏠

✨ Welcome to the Team, Abdul! ✨

We’re thrilled to introduce Abdul, our newest Support Worker — and trust us, he’s bringing a very impressive resume (and possibly lunch).

Abdul is an Aeronautical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, and also runs the Frenchville Post Office… so yes, he can fix a plane, deliver your mail, and still show up to support his clients with a smile. In his own words, he’s a “friendly and trustworthy guy” — and honestly, we agree.

His journey into Disability Support started at the post office, where he met many elderly customers who needed a helping hand. Seeing their challenges inspired him to join our field, and he’s excited for the “exciting challenges” (his words!) that come with this new role.

When he’s not keeping half the city running, Abdul enjoys soccer, chess, anime, and — plot twist — he’s secretly a seriously good cook. We’re talking Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Mexican cuisine. (We’re not saying we hired him for his cooking… but we’re also not not saying that.)

Please join us in welcoming Abdul to the team — we’re so glad to have him on board! 🎉

☀️ Heatwaves can be dangerous for everyone - especially older people, babies, children, pregnant women and people who are unwell and with medical conditions.
🏛️ Seek a place to keep cool, like a library, community centre or shopping centre.
🏡 ️Close your windows, blinds, or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
❄️ If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
🐕 Keep your pets cool with plenty of water and shade, and never leave them in vehicles.

🌟 Welcome to the Team, Janine! 🌟

We’re excited to introduce Janine, our new Rostering and Admin Officer!

Janine brings over 20 years of experience as an early childhood educator and has most recently worked as a support officer. She also has valuable insight from her time with an NDIS Partner in the Community — where she worked alongside our very own Saroj and Trish. When the opportunity came up to work with them again, she just couldn’t pass it by!

With personal experience of disability within her family, Janine brings compassion, understanding, and a real heart for the work we do. She’s most looking forward to being part of a great team (that’s us! 😄) and learning new skills in her new role.

Outside of work, Janine loves camping, caravanning, discovering new places, and relaxing with a good crime or thriller book. She’s recently fallen down the rabbit hole of podcasts too! 🎧

And a fun fact you might not guess: Janine was once a cheerleader and modelled wedding dresses on the catwalk — including the grand finale gown worth the equivalent of $6,000… which, according to her, was absolutely hideous. 😅
