Rockhampton Hospital is training two Nurse Practitioners Candidates to work in our Emergency Department (ED). 🏥👏

Clinical Nurses Monika and Paula have started a training program under the clinical supervision of long-time and experienced Nurse Practitioner Geoff.

Over the next two years they will do their Master studies at University of Queensland while they work in the ED as Nurse Practitioner Candidates.

Endorsed Nurse Practitioners work autonomously within the top scope of nursing of their specialised field, assessing patient needs, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, diagnosing diseases, prescribing medications and formulating treatment plans.

Thank you to Karl and the Concrete Pumping QLD team for trusting Walk n Talk to kickstart our first workplace session of the year. Together, we created a safe space to break the stigma, spark honest conversations, and remind each other that no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

Christmas is a challenging time for many people and seems to be increasingly challenging given the cost of basics like food. Every year as a family we donate either a hamper or gifts under the giving tree which we did this year. In addition to our family donating, ashar health. also donated. Anglicare Central Queensland received 2 family hampers this morning from ashar health. I find it important to give back to the community. Especially during this week as it is Nurse Practitioner week.

What does this mean for clients seeing Nurse Practitioners? Nothing changes. It means we don’t need to have a doctor involved to access Medicare or pbs. We will still keep your other service providers including GP involved in your care though. Why? Cause that’s best practice
