Gumbi Gumbi Alcohol & Drug Withdrawal and Rehabilitation Centre offers a holistic approach to treatment and recovery through education, empowerment and healing available to all individuals who have been affected by alcohol, drug, and substance misuse. Set in peaceful, serene surroundings, Gumbi Gumbi offers culturally appropriate programs based on individual treatment with ongoing support and care that assists clients to relax and allows the necessary time to heal the individual’s mind, body, and spirit. The name Gumbi Gumbi was adopted from the Gumbi Gumbi plant which grows throughout Central Queensland. The Ghungalu people have long used this plant for its medicinal purposes and acknowledge the strong healing powers that the plant possesses. The name Gumbi Gumbi was adopted to represent a place of healing for those who have been affected by the use of drugs, alcohol, and substance abuse. As with the Gumbi Gumbi plant which, as it grows and matures, increases its healing power with the medicine becoming stronger, Gumbi Gumbi Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation provides a place of healing where those who visit can rebuild their lives and develop a strong foundation for their future.
