ORGANIC ACID TEST

I’m working with a little client who has been diagnosed with autism.

Alongside this, she’s also dealing with sensory sensitivities, feeding struggles, anxiety, OCD tendencies, communication delays, sugar cravings, mood swings, and behavioral challenges.

We ran an Organic Acid Test, and the results showed there’s a lot more happening beneath the surface:

☑️ High oxalates
☑️ Folate metabolism issues
☑️ Gut bacterial imbalances
☑️ Fungal overgrowth
☑️ Mitochondrial dysfunction
☑️ Methylation challenges (MTHFR gene)

This tells us her behaviors aren’t just “because of autism.” Her body is overwhelmed on many levels, struggling to regulate and function properly.

This is more than autism — it’s a whole-body picture that needs support.

We need to look at the whole child not just one part. 👧

For our fussy beige eaters out there. So hard to get the fibre in for nourishing meals . For a health nervous system, brain and immune system .

Some benefits of fibre are for our kiddies are :

Elimination of wastes
Regular bowel motions
Helping to Absorb nutrients
Feeding our microbiome

So we can still have a beige diet and get the snout of fibre needed for these things through -

Pulse pastas
Potatoes 🥔
Brown rice
Oat meal
Apples
Cauliflower

All this in turns help brown and nervous system function for an our fussy neurodiverse eater with constipation .

Why do we test these in every child ?

These nutrients deficiencies like plasma zinc 🥜can contribute fussy eaters, picky eaters, food aversions like meat or our beige eaters .

Vitamin D ☀️can contribute to inflammation and immunity and also new research on speech and language problems.

Copper : zinc ratio if imbalances can lead to fatigue mood and cognitive issues

Low or high Serotonin and dopamine can lead to anxiety, depression , hyper activity , low appetite , fussy eaters.

B12 & B6 can lead to serotonin and dopamine being low , behavioural issues and mood disturbances , low energy.

All the these have such important impact on our kids brains and health. Our biggest asset. 🧠

Zinc and Food Aversions in Kids/ fussy eating, picky eaters

> Zinc deficiency can lead to poor appetite. Patients can have altered taste and smell & are normally beige eaters.

Why Does Zinc Deficiency Affect Eating?

- Zinc is involved in taste and smell:

Low zinc levels can cause changes in these senses, making food less appealing or even unpleasant for children.

Loss of appetite: Kids with zinc deficiency may simply not feel hungry, contributing to food refusal or aversions.

Signs Your Child Might Have Low Zinc

- Persistent food aversions or refusal to eat
- Loss of appetite
- Altered or reduced sense of taste or smell
- tending towards beige foods
- Growth delays

What Can Parents Do?

- Offer a variety of zinc-rich foods- Meat, seafood, dairy, nuts, seeds, and whole grains.

supplementation is always a must if food aversions are present or limited food intake.

This is the first thing I say to every parent that has a highly sensitive child , neurodiverse child .

There is no overnight fix

If we are trying to increase serotonin, or get dopamine into the cell , improve language and speech , improve regulation , anxiety , improve moods & behaviour, improve fussy eating .
This takes time!
Generally 6-8 weeks.
Good things take time. But in the end we get results with time and consistency .

Mothers Day & Cystic Fibrosis awareness month 🩷

After having amazing mother day with my baby girl , As well as being cystic fibrosis month. I thought I would let share a little about my journey being a mother with cf .

I do not share a lot of here an about my personal life but here it’s really important I think to share some insights on to cystic fibrosis and raise awareness about cf and my motherhood journey.

From a very young age I was in out of hospital having treatments , surgeries ect every 6 weeks . I pretty much lived in hospital growing up , Eventually at the age of 25 years old I received the call to have double lung transplant . Which was almost 20 years ago now.

Although it’s not a cure , it gave me better quality life and increased my life expectancy to another 5-10 years. (So they said but I’m still here)

I never made the disease my whole but only part of it . I write my own story. 📖

I did everything I wanted to do never made excuses for the things I couldn’t do because I did everything . Even with oxygen 24/7, nasogastric feeing every night , hospital every 6 weeks for 3 weeks at a time, treatments ect.

I finished 2 degrees at uni, been married , had baby girl, travelled the world for years. I have a thriving business. What more could I ask for in life
Finally I had a baby girl at 35, (my drs were not too impressed ) it didn’t come without its complications , adaline was born at 27 weeks and but now 9 years old she is thriving .

Motherhood as been hardest journey I have been on, especially with all my complications, treatments hospitalisations & being a single mother , it’s challenging but also so very rewarding . As most mothers would know. 🤍 it’s not prefect but cherish the small moments.

Being a mother with cf really makes grateful for every single moment we have with our children & the people around us. My next journey with kidney transplant but I know I’ll be right because of the people around me . 🤍

I would never have accomplished all I have in my life without my mum , she has been my biggest supporter . X Happy Mothers Day Mum🌹
