IS YOUR TRAUMA IMPACTING ON YOUR RELATIONSHIPS?

Have you considered hypnotherapy?
Is does't require long talk therapy, ongoing therapy for years and telling your story over and over again just to re-traumatise you even further.

Signs your trauma may still be impacting you:

- you find yourself risk assessing people, places, decisions, basically everything in your life
- you often become sad, angry or upset for no obvious reason
- you may be easily triggered by words, sounds, people, thoughts, feelings that are connected in some way with your trauma
- others may say things to you like you over analyse, catastrophise, are a "negative nelly" and can't see the positive
- you struggle to trust others and especially yourself
- your challenged to regulate your sleep, weight, decision making, and concentration
- you may have developed some unhealthy coping styles and dependencies
- others tell you that you are not over your trauma and need to see someone about it

The tricky thing with trauma is that when we experienced a negative event, we told ourselves something about that event and assigned value to ourselves and our life at not only a conscious level but at a deep unconscious level. As time passes without realising we layer up on that event and before we know it we have created what we call "unconscious knots" that we struggle to unravel and heal at a conscious level.

For example, let's say you have been in the army, experienced PTSD from the trauma of what you have seen and experienced...perhaps loud noises, seeing army vehicles, watching war movies etc may trigger you, but over time, you now have additional trauma and start to avoid loud places, perhaps concerts and now all of a sudden you have layered up trauma, now you have unconsciously connected concerts to your traumatic experience.

Through hypnosis we can unravel those unconscious knots and create new neural pathways and embed skills and resources into your unconscious mind that you can use consciously to run new patterns of thinking, feeling and responding. It's like getting rid of old tools in your tool kit that are not working for you and replacing them with new, useful tools that get the job done.

DO YOU HAVE LOW SELF ESTEEM?

Self esteem is your opinion of yourself. If you have low self esteem you may be experiencing "imposter syndrome". Imposter syndrome is where you have difficulty believing in yourself that you are deserving of good things and being able to praise and build yourself up and acknowledge your great qualities.

You may also notice you are quite critical of yourself, have negative self talk, and judge yourself harshly for mistakes and put high expectations upon achieving your goals.

If your self esteem is low you may also be experiencing anxiety, depression, sleep issues, digestive issues, poor concentration, feeling teary often, irritable and have low energy.

While it is important to try to use positive self talk, forgive yourself for mistakes, identify your strengths and build healthy relationships with yourself and others, sometimes even with all our best efforts we just can't seem to do it...and that's ok.

Often our self esteem is deeply connected to our upbringing, our past trauma, our relationship with our parents and the negative events that have happened in our life. It is through these experiences that at an unconscious level we have formed ideas and beliefs about ourselves based on those events, so even though we consciously try to change our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, often it only lasts for a little while and we are back to being our usual critical self.

Fears and Phobias present as intense feelings that are often irrational and can be over a particular object or situation.

The physical symptoms can include:

- sweating
- chest pain or tightness
- abnormal breathing

- light headedness

EVER WONDERED HOW HYPNOSIS REALLY WORKS?

It's all very scientific really.

When you are awake your brain is producing brain waves called Beta waves, this state of mind is called the "waking state". When your brain is producing Alpha and Theta waves, this state of mind is referred to your "trance state or hypnotic state" and when you are in this state it is your unconscious/subconscious/super-conscious state (they are all the same thing). When you are asleep you are producing Delta brainwaves and this is called your "sleep state".

A hypnotherapist helps your brain to enter a "trance state" and produce Alpha and Theta waves. In this hypnotic state you are accessing your unconscious mind. Your unconscious mind has created "knots" in your processing that results in you developing set thinking, feeling and doing patterns that may be holding you back to living a fulfilling life.

By making suggestions to your unconscious mind we can un-do those knots and give your unconscious mind new resources, tools and skills so that you run new patterns of thinking, feeling and doing and can achieve your desired outcomes.
