🌸 ADHD Awareness Month - Lets Support Parents with ADHD Kids !
In counselling, we often say “Behaviour = Communication.”
This is particularly true for kids with ADHD.
Sometimes, kids with ADHD find it hard to express what they’re feeling or needing. When that frustration builds, it can bubble over as big emotions or challenging behaviour.
If we pause and look for the need sitting behind the behaviour, we can start to problem-solve and help our kids grow more resilient and independent.
Next time your child is acting out, try this 👇
⭐ Instead of saying: “What’s wrong with my child?”
⭐ Try saying: “What does my child need right now?”
Try to really understand what their behaviour is telling you....
Are they overstimulated?
Hungry?
Tired?
Struggling with a change in routine or transition?
In my practice, I help parents move from 'control' to 'collaborative parenting'. I show them how to work with their child and not against them. They learn to listen and build the skills they need to support and connect with their children. 💛
✨Please reach out, if you’d like to better understand your child’s needs, or learn practical, collaborative ways to support your child with ADHD.
"Remember - you are doing an amazing job!!!"
