You've got the career, the qualifications, the respect of your peers. You walk in with research printed out, questions prepared, ready to solve this like you solve everything else.

Can I ask you something?

Have you ever felt like your body changed almost overnight… but every test says you’re “fine”?

I want to share another story I see quite often.

A woman in her 40s or early 50s came to see me feeling confused about what was happening in her body.

Some days she feels wired and anxious, and other days flat and exhausted.
Her sleep isn't as deep as it used to be.
Her patience is thinner.
Some days she feels wired and anxious, and other days flat and exhausted.

Sje tells me she feels like she's somehow 'lost control " of her body.

Most of the time, she's been told some version of the same thing:
"Your bloods tests look normal".

"Your blood tests look normal". eath the surface is that her body's moving through perimenopause- a time when hormones, stress, gut health, and metabolism all start interacting differently.

Nothing is "wrong" with her.

Her body is simply asking for a different kind of support.

"This is the work I do with women in my clinic"

I help women slow down enough to understand what their body is trying to communicate, rather than fighting against it.

I wonder how many women are living in the gap between “normal” and optimal.

Where TSH is in range.
But conversion isn’t.
Where ferritin is “acceptable.”
But functionally depleted.
Where inflammation simmers quietly.
Where stress physiology never truly switches off.

This is where most thyroid fatigue sits.

Wide awake.
Body tired.
Brain on.

And you lie there wondering what’s wrong with you.

Before we talk supplements, let’s talk regulation.

In perimenopause, progesterone declines first.
Progesterone supports GABA — your calming neurotransmitter.

Layer chronic stress on top of that and your nervous system doesn’t downshift easily anymore.

This isn’t a magnesium deficiency.

It’s a regulatory issue.

If this pattern sounds familiar, stabilisation of the nervous system usually needs to happen before hormones feel steady again.
