💛 March is Endometriosis Awareness Month 💛
Endometriosis affects around 1 in 7 women and can significantly impact daily life.
It occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, often in the pelvis.
Symptoms can vary and may include:
• Pelvic pain
• Painful periods
• Infertility
Some women may have few or no symptoms, and the severity of symptoms doesn’t always reflect the extent of the condition.
Diagnosis
The only definitive diagnosis is through laparoscopy with a biopsy, where a small telescope is inserted through the belly button to examine the pelvis and test any suspected tissue.
Sometimes doctors may suspect endometriosis without surgery if:
• A cyst is seen on the o***y or pelvic organs
• A doctor can feel affected tissue during an exam
• Endometriosis is visible through the vaginal wall (rare)
Treatment
Treatment may include:
• Medical – medications or hormone therapy
• Surgical – procedures to remove endometriotic tissue
• Allied care – physiotherapy, psychology, and supportive therapies
Often a combination of treatments is needed.
If you’re experiencing symptoms, book an appointment with your GP to discuss your options. 💛

💛 What is Endometriosis? 💛
Endometriosis is a medical condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing inflammation, pain, and a range of symptoms.
It affects 1 in 9 women in Australia and can impact daily life, work, relationships, and fertility.
Common symptoms include:
• Painful or heavy periods
• Chronic pelvic pain
• Pain during or after s*x
• Bowel or bladder issues, including GI distress or IBS
• Fatigue and brain fog
• Infertility or difficulty conceiving
• Autoimmune-related symptoms
Symptoms can vary widely between women, and pain severity doesn’t always match the extent of the condition. Endometriosis is not just “bad period pain” — it is a complex condition that can affect many aspects of health.
📞 If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, book an appointment with your GP for assessment, diagnosis, and support.
💛 Early recognition and management can make a real difference.

☀️ Know the ABCDEs of Melanoma ☀️
Early detection can save lives. When checking your skin, remember the ABCDE rule for spotting possible melanoma:
A – Asymmetry
One half of the mole doesn’t match the other.
B – Border
Edges are irregular, ragged, or blurred.
C – Colour
Different shades of brown, black, red, white, or blue.
D – Diameter
Larger than 6mm (about the size of a pencil eraser), though melanomas can be smaller.
E – Evolving
Any change in size, shape, colour, or symptoms such as itching or bleeding.
If you notice any of these changes, it’s important to have your skin checked by your GP.
🩺 Early detection makes a big difference — book a skin check if you have concerns. 📞(07) 4922 3300
