❀️ Heart Week | 4–10 May 2026 ❀️

Heart Week is a reminder to take care of your heart health and understand your risk of heart attack or stroke.

Did you know you can book a Heart Health Check with your GP?

🩺 It’s a simple 20-minute check-up that assesses your risk of having a heart attack or stroke in the next five years and helps you understand what steps you can take to reduce that risk.

βœ… Medicare covers a Heart Health Check once every 12 months for eligible patients:
β€’ People aged 45–79 years
β€’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 30 years and over
β€’ Those who do not already have cardiovascular disease

Your GP may also recommend a GP Management Plan (Care Plan) if you have ongoing risk factors, which can provide access to Medicare-subsidised allied health services such as dietitians or exercise physiologists.

❀️ Small steps can make a big difference.

πŸ‘ƒπŸ’‰ Needle-Free Flu Vaccine for Kids – Now Available πŸ’‰πŸ‘ƒ

There’s a new way to protect your children against the flu this year!

For the first time in Australia, a needle-free flu vaccine (nasal spray) is available for children aged 2 to 5 years (before they turn 6) β€” making it a quick and easy option for little ones.

βœ… The nasal spray flu vaccine may be free for eligible children
βœ… You can choose between the nasal spray or the traditional needle vaccine

Flu can spread quickly, especially in young children, so vaccination is an important way to protect them this winter.

🧼 Don’t forget β€” good hygiene also helps:
β€’ Wash hands regularly
β€’ Cover coughs and sneezes
β€’ Stay home when unwell

πŸ“ž Speak to your GP to check availability and book an appointment.

Protect your child the easy way this flu season πŸ’™

πŸ’‰ RSV Vaccination – Available from 15th May πŸ’‰

You may have seen recent news about the RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) vaccine and we’re pleased to let our patients know that it will be available at our clinic from 15th May.

The RSV vaccine is part of the National Immunisation Program (NIP) and is free for eligible patients, including:
βœ”οΈ People aged 75 years and over
βœ”οΈ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 60 years and over
βœ”οΈ Pregnant women (to help protect newborn babies)
βœ”οΈ Eligible infants (through specific RSV immunisation programs)

RSV can cause serious respiratory illness, particularly in older adults and young babies, so vaccination and prevention are important.

🩺 Appointments are required so please contact our clinic to check availability and book.

ℹ️ As this is a government supplied vaccine, availability may vary. Eligibility for infants may depend on specific criteria β€” please speak with our team for more information.

⚠️ April Falls Month – Simple Tips to Prevent Falls ⚠️

Falls can often be prevented with a few simple changes at home and in your daily routine.

Here are some easy ways to reduce your risk:
βœ”οΈ Install grab bars in your bathroom for extra support
βœ”οΈ Stay physically active to maintain strength and balance
βœ”οΈ Have your eyes and hearing checked regularly
βœ”οΈ Use assistive devices (like a walking aid) if needed
βœ”οΈ Add extra lighting, especially near stairs or uneven areas
βœ”οΈ Stand up slowly β€” getting up too quickly can cause dizziness

Small changes can make a big difference in keeping you safe, steady, and independent.

🩺 If you’re concerned about your risk of falling, your GP can help assess your needs and provide support.

πŸ“ž Book an appointment today to stay on your feet this April. πŸ’™

⚠️ April Falls Month – Fuel Your Body, Stay on Your Feet ⚠️

Good nutrition plays an important role in preventing falls by helping maintain strength, balance, and energy levels.

Simple ways to support your health:
βœ”οΈ Eat enough protein to maintain muscle strength
βœ”οΈ Include calcium and vitamin D for strong bones
βœ”οΈ Stay well hydrated to prevent dizziness
βœ”οΈ Eat regular meals to maintain energy levels
βœ”οΈ Include a variety of fruits and vegetables for overall health

Poor nutrition can increase the risk of weakness, dizziness, and falls β€” especially as we age.

🩺 Your GP can help assess your health and may recommend a Care Plan with access to a dietitian or allied health support.

πŸ“ž Book an appointment today to support your strength, balance, and overall wellbeing. πŸ’™
