Rural Health Connect is a website and app which connects rural Australians to psychologists and other health professionals, using video-conferencing technology. We aim to provide a trusted place that rural and remote Australians can turn to when they are experiencing tough times. We believe, passionately, that the positive effects of speaking to a mental health professional should be accessible to everyone.

A heart attack and multiple strokes left Richard from Oakley finding day-to-day life difficult. It also brought up unresolved trauma from his childhood which he found “difficult to reconcile”.

Richard spent years struggling to access the mental health support he needed for PTSD and depression. Through Rural Health Connect he was finally able to receive consistent psychological care.

When you’re supporting someone else, your wellbeing matters too. Vanessa, one of our clinical psychologists, shared a powerful reminder “look after yourself, and ensure that you have support yourself. That might be linking in with professional support, or having supportive people around you that you can also talk to.”

Although supporting others can be rewarding, it is important to be kind to yourself and ensure you have the support you need. Staying supported helps you continue to care for others.

Rural Health Connect is partnering with community and health organisations across the country to connect clients affected by Perinatal Loss with expert and culturally safe psychology sessions.

The Rural Health Connect Perinatal Grief and Loss program supports women and their families affected by Perinatal Loss (miscarriage, still birth, termination, and neonatal death), it is bulk billed without a waiting list.
