A Lactation Consultation is valuable whether you are a first time
mother or a mother who has previously had breastfeeding
difficulties. A Lactation Consultant can correctly identify the cause of the
problem and assist you in overcoming difficulties you are
experiencing. Common issues include:
- Establishment and maintenance of milk supply
- Poor positioning and attachment
- Milk supply issues
(too much or too little)
- Sore/damaged ni***es
- Mastitis
- Breastfeeding multiples
- Continuing the breastfeeding relationship whilst returning to work.
- Monitoring baby’s growth
Margaret offers Home Visits, Office consultations (Rockhampton),
Telephone / Skype Consultations. An initial service includes a one and a half to two hour in
home/office consultation plus follow up telephone/email support
for 6 weeks. Telephone/Skype consultations are also available for follow up
after an initial home/office or hospital visit. Telephone / Skype consultations are helpful for information and
short term trouble shooting where immediate suggestions can
be of help. Telephone/Skype consultations are a great option
for those who are unable to travel to Rockhampton for a
consultation. As with private visits, telephone /Skype
consultations will be by appointment made at time of initial
contact. This service is designed to work collaboratively with your current
health care provider to enhance your early parenting experience
and family health outcomes.
