🎳 Strike!!🎳

This week we had an absolute blast taking one of our ParkSyde Friends to Rocky bowl and Leisure for some ten pin bowling! 🎳 🎉

Outings like this are more than just a great time – they help build:
Confidence in new environments, social and communication skills, physical coordination and movement and a sense of independence and inclusion!

It’s always rewarding to see our friends laughing, learning, and achieving their personal goals in the community. Huge thank you to Rocky Bowl And Leisure for providing such an awesome and welcoming space! 💙
Remember they have a cafe, great arcade space with bumper cars, mini golf and lasertag! Fun for everyone! 😆

🌿🍴Lunch with a View! 🐦☀️

Recently we had the absolute pleasure of enjoying lunch at the top of Mount Archer in beautiful Rockhampton with one of our amazing ParkSyde friends!

The fresh air, stunning views, and peaceful surroundings made it the perfect relaxed setting for connection and great conversation.
We even spotted some local wildlife—including a few curious birds that came to say hello! 🐦

School holiday activities this week!

Join us at the Heritage Village 9am to 11am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (23 to 25 Sep),(30 Sep, 1 Oct and 2 Oct) for some great outdoor fun the whole family will enjoy!

9am to 11am - Vintage vehicle rides
9am to 11am - Animal feeding
9am to 11am - Vintage games
Plus access to the Heritage Village and live demonstrations of our heritage displays.

Arnold’s Café will be open for snacks and refreshments. Also a sausage sizzle run by the Friends of the Village, cash only.

ENTRY: $6 per person includes entry and all rides.
Entry fee to School Holiday Activities includes all rides.
EFTPOS available. No bookings necessary.

Hats & enclosed shoes required.

Please note: Our vintage vehicles sometimes experience mechanical issues that may prevent them from operating.

🐾 🦅A Wildly Fun Day at the Zoo 🦧🦦
On another recent adventure, our support team and our ParkSyde friend had the absolute pleasure of heading out to the Rockhampton Zoo!

From watching the cheeky Chimps, the super cute Meerkats and the beautiful Wedge-Tailed Eagle Valkyrie this experience wasn’t just about fun, it was also about working towards goals in a meaningful and enjoyable way.

Through this community access activity, our client was able to:
✅ Increase social and communication skills
✅ Build confidence in navigating environments
✅ Improve mobility and independence through walking and exploring different zoo areas
✅ Enhance emotional well-being by connecting with nature and animals
✅ Strengthen relationships with their support worker in a relaxed, joyful setting

These kinds of outings are more than just a day out – they’re a part of a bigger picture. They support our friends by promoting personal growth, inclusion, and the freedom to pursue interests and goals in real-life settings.
We love seeing the smiles, the progress, and the pride that come from doing things that matter to our friends.💙

🎣 Gone Fishing! 🌊
Regularly, one of our amazing support workers takes a very avid angler aka one of our wonderful ParkSyde friends, out fishing! 🐟☀️

Going fishing might look like fun (and it is!), but it’s also a powerful way to work toward a range of personal goals:
✅ Skill Building – fishing is a real, transferable life skill — and one that gives a sense of achievement and purpose.
✅ Community Participation – Taking part in a popular community hobby helped foster a sense of belonging and connection.
✅ Social & Communication Skills – Sharing laughs, stories, and quiet moments helped build confidence in communication and social settings.
✅ Physical Activity – Reeling in lines and exploring the area offers fine motor skills, balance, light exercise and improved coordination.
✅ Independence – Choosing bait, setting up gear, and making decisions along the way all encouraged independent thinking.
✅ Improving Mental Health
Time in nature and near water is proven to reduce stress and anxiety. Fishing provides a calm, mindful environment that supports emotional regulation and mental well-being.

Whether you catch something or not, fishing is always a win. But on these days we got all the luck!😎

From Keppel Bay Marina, Ross Creek to the Causeway, if fishing isn't your thing the sights definitely dont disappoint!

🌟 A Step Back In Time at Rockhampton Heritage Village! 🏡🚜

This week, we had the pleasure of supporting one of our amazing ParkSyde friends on a fun and meaningful outing to the Rockhampton Heritage Village! 🎉
From exploring historic buildings to chatting with friendly locals and checking out vintage vehicles, it was more than just a great day out – it was an opportunity to work towards important NDIS goals like:

✅ Building social and community connections
✅ Improving communication skills by meeting and engaging with new people
✅ Boosting independence and confidence
✅ Learning through hands-on experiences

We encourage everyone to visit this awesome local attraction and with school holidays coming up, give them a follow on Rockhampton Heritage Village page to stay up to date on information and activities on offer!

⛽️Our fave for the day was the 1926 Oldsmobile car ride with Mick and watching the local Blacksmith!🪓
