I don’t usually sing songs like this,um
Folk ballads... so this feels weirdly different… out of my comfort zone a bit and also somehow befitting..
This is "Both Sides Now" by Joni Mitchell, a song that’s been around for a long time, and somehow it still feels just as true today. I first heard it only recently, and it struck a chord with me. Actually.. it was a friend who said he liked it and that it would suit me...something to that effect.
There’s something about the way it captures life—not in a simple way, but in all its layers, its contradictions, and its quiet realizations.
I spent a weekend away in a peaceful place here in Western Australia, just walking around, taking in the stillness. The sky was full of clouds drifting slowly, and it immediately reminded me of this song—how something as simple as clouds can hold so many meanings depending on how you look at them. And I'm an eternal cloud gazer.....always have been. ☁️🩵
So I put together a few small clips from my walk and decided to sing this. Not perfectly, but honestly...
Also part of my personality is to not want to revisit things over and over, but simply like exactly what turned out..partly cz I get bored with it. The deeper I look into the visual the more layers I see...even tho its not that deep!! Hehe
To me, this song feels like a reminder that life isn’t just one thing. It’s not just joy or sadness, certainty or confusion—it’s all of it, constantly shifting. And maybe growing up is just learning to see things from more than one side… and being okay with that.
I hope you enjoy it. I’ll probably do more of these from time to time—just expressing my moments.
And wherever life takes you, I hope you experience and embrace it fully. Stay open to different perspectives, hold onto what matters, and don’t be afraid of the complexity—it’s what makes everything real.
Thanks for listening🎧
