In late March, our Right Care Right Place (RCRP) team spent time in Roma delivering in-person training, collaboration and service development activities alongside the National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC).

The focus was on strengthening how eating disorders are identified and responded to across the region.

Led by Abby Smith, the program brought together local clinicians, services and national partners, with Emily Harris supporting delivery on the ground.

Across the work, the team delivered:

• Training sessions on identification, initial response, psychoeducation and single session intervention
• A leadership workshop to support services responding to eating and body concerns
• Engagement with local providers across primary care, mental health, allied health and hospital services
• Planning to guide the next phase of RCRP

The team was also joined by NEDC representatives Jackie Wilson, Dr Emma Spiel and Evangeline Gardiner, along with QuEDS team members Sally Kuhle and Rea Nolan.

This work continues to build capability, strengthen connections across services and support access to care across the south-west region.

There is often confusion about the difference between a nutritionist and an accredited practising dietitian.

In Australia, dietitians are accredited allied health professionals who complete university training and meet national professional standards. Dietitians who hold the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) credential commit to ongoing education and evidence-based practice.

Dietitians work with individuals across a wide range of health concerns, using a person-centred approach that considers medical history, lifestyle, culture and personal goals.

The term “nutritionist” is not regulated under a single national professional body in Australia, which means qualifications and training can vary.
At Vital Health, our dietitians support people across the region with personalised nutrition guidance.

If you’d like to learn more about dietetics services available at Vital Health, contact your local clinic.

Occupational Therapy is often thought of as only supporting physical tasks, but it goes much broader than that.

OT can support how people manage daily routines, build independence, develop skills, and navigate challenges at home, school, or in the community.

It is about helping people do the things that are meaningful to them, in a way that works for their life.

If you have ever wondered whether OT could support you or someone you know, our team is here to help.

Progress can look different for everyone.

For some, it is moving with more confidence. For others, it is getting back to the things they enjoy, even in small steps.

Gaby’s approach is about working alongside you to build that progress over time, not just focusing on short term relief.

If you are working towards getting back to what matters to you, our team is here to support you.
