85km. 2342m elevation gain. The most brutal course I’ve done.

Do hard things they say!!!

Ok I totally underestimated this course. Going into it I was like 82km only 2000m elevation, prob take about 10 hours. WELL I WAS WRONG.

The terrain was SOOO HARD and technical and not what I was expecting. It was slow and looooooong and 13 1/2 hours later it finally came to an end!!

Absolutely gorgeous scenery. And awesome day out. (Although at 67km I wasn’t saying this is awesome!!).

My training plan going into this run was - no training plan just keep doing what I usually do to keep fit. My weekly running volume was a lot lower than usual before an event like this but I wanted to see how I went with my standard fitness/strength. I was super happy with my performance. Although I could feel I wasn’t at my peak performance, I knew I could do it. My engine is strong just couldn’t change gear hence the slow shuffle that felt like I was going backwards 🤣

For me it’s never about winning, I don’t really have a competitive bone in my body. I just do it for me, the love of nature, the love of moving, the love of a good challenge, the love of learning more about myself and how far I can push. And of course the hope that it inspires other people (esp my kids!) to do hard things and live life to YOUR FULL POTENTIAL šŸ™Œ

I could feel the struggle in this race but never once did I want to give up. I just acknowledged that this was hard and kept pushing on.

More great memories made on the trails. Now to recover and train a little harder šŸ’ŖšŸ™

I’m going to Taiwan! šŸ‡¹šŸ‡¼

I honestly have no words. I’m beyond excited, incredibly grateful and still in complete shock…

This September, I have the absolute honour of representing Australia at the Taiwan Ultra 100km.

To be chosen to wear the Trailsplus brand on an international ā€˜stage’ (trails) is something I never dreamed possible. Trailsplus is more than just a race organiser - it’s the heart and soul of trail running in Victoria. It’s where my trail journey began, where I found my love for the mountains and where some of my most meaningful and unforgettable moments have taken place.

Brett, and the entire Trailsplus family THANK YOU. I’ll carry every one of you with me, in every step, every climb, every moment of that 100km. I’ll run with heart, strength and deep pride to represent this incredible community.

Looks like SUM80 becomes a training run this Saturday and August, we go all in for Taiwan.

Santosha = A deep, grounding sense of contentment.

Yesterday was one of those days that makes my heart happy. Just me and my three kiddies, walking from 11am to 3pm, no plans, no rush, no distractions, no screens. Just us.

Outside in the fresh air, blue skies and winter sunshine, laughing, running, playing, talking about everything and nothing. Not much actually makes sense!!!

This is the good stuff.
This is what fills my heart in ways nothing else can.
These simple moments are everything.

I never want my kids to grow too old to just walk with me like this. To be silly. To be close. To be fully present. To be together.

Important Reminder:

Happiness isn’t in the grand or the glamorous.
It’s in presence, connection, nature, love.

Get your kids outside and be present with them. Its good for everyone

Not just for your body but for your mind, your mood and your whole outlook on life.

Even 10 minutes can change the way you think and feel.
It can shift your energy, calm your nervous system and remind you that you are capable, strong and grounded.

It brings me so much joy to see the weight lift off people’s shoulders the moment they start to move.
You can literally see their posture shift, their face soften, their spark return.

Because movement doesn’t just build strength it builds resilience.

The mental health benefits of exercise are powerful:
*Clears mental fog
*Reduces stress and anxiety
*Boosts feel-good hormones like endorphins and serotonin
*Improves sleep quality

Running has my heart - always has.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s this: running alone isn’t enough.

If I want to keep doing this for years to come, strong, injury-free and actually enjoying it, I have to train smarter, not just harder.

That’s where cross training and strength work come in.

For me, its not just about performance.
It’s about longevity.
It’s about protecting my joints, improving my form, keeping my body balanced and avoiding the kind of overuse injuries that take you out for weeks or months.

Strength training makes me a more efficient, powerful runner.
Cross training keeps things fresh, challenges different muscle groups and gives my body the variety it needs to recover and grow.

If you’re a runner and you want to be in it for the long haul - strength and cross training are non-negotiable.

Your future knees, hips and mindset will thank you šŸ’ŖšŸ½šŸ‘Ÿ
