Tap Water Isn’t Risk-Free 🚱
Even treated tap water can carry hidden risks. Parasites, PFAS, chemicals, and heavy metals may slip through—while fluoride and chlorine are already added. Over time, it all builds up. 💧
In August 2025, Naegleria fowleri—a deadly amoeba that can cause fatal brain infections—was detected in the drinking water of Charleville and Augathella (QLD) during a specialized university-led test commissioned by QLD Health (News.com.au, Courier Mail, ABC, Murweh Shire).
While the water was still safe to drink or use on skin, authorities warned of serious risk if water entered the nose (e.g. while showering), as this can lead to primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM)—a nearly always fatal brain infection (Queensland Government).
And this isn’t the only concern. Other threats can slip into water supplies:
Cryptosporidium parasites – a 2024 outbreak saw 823+ cases in just six weeks (SBS, QLD Health).
PFAS chemicals – persistent “forever chemicals” that resist conventional treatment.
Climate change – warmer conditions increase risks for parasites and amoeba growth.
👉 Proper water filtration isn’t a luxury—it’s essential for protecting your health.
