My name is Yvette Collins, and as the founder of Every Step of the Weigh I am pleased to introduce my personally designed, practical weight loss program aimed at helping you achieve weight reduction leading to enhanced participation and enjoyment of life. I have since maintained my weight and through my studies I am now a qualified weight loss consultant. I am ready to share my knowledge with you in a calm, comfortable and supportive manner - teaching you how to manage your weight and improve your health and well-being. With my program you will not be alone in your journey to lose weight. Let's be honest, losing weight is not rocket science - in fact most of us already have a rudimentary understanding of what a healthy eating plan should be. Most of us are acutely aware when we are ‘off the rails’ or ‘out of control’ or simply unfocused on our health. Whether the decision to focus on your weight and health is your own or given under medical advice, a helping hand to guide you through a personal plan will be a key factor in your success. My one-on-one affordable consultations provide nutritional information, a food plan, exercise guidelines and emotional support, all designed to bring about behavioural change. The initial step includes a 1 hour food and lifestyle assessment followed by weekly 1/2 hour meetings consisting of lessons, goal setting and a progress review. I will mentor, support, inspire and motivate you on your journey to lose weight. This is me ……after a long busy day, calming my mind and recharging my body. (Mind you I’m having an electricity issue but hey….thank you Universe 🙌 for forcing me to light some candles)

Stress is often a major cause of weight gain and relaxation can ease your path to healthy weight loss.

One way stress impacts body weight is behavioral. You just may eat more when you're stressed, looking for quick comfort in food.

The other way is hormonal. Chronic stress raises the blood level of a hormone called cortisol, which is made by your adrenal glands. Cortisol raises your blood sugar and causes fat cells to grow larger. Persistently high levels of cortisol will increase your amount of belly fat, in particular.

Relaxation is not only about resting your body - resting your mind is just as crucial and an important part of your physical, mental, and emotional health.

So confession time.........I’ve had a bit of a food fest of late, lots of very stressful changes and to be honest I’ve been eating for a bit of comfort.

Over the years I’ve come to realise that I will probably never ever 100% recover from occasionally self- soothing with food, but I’ve done a great job in managing it.
How? Well, by becoming more self aware so that when I feel that pull toward food and succumb to a craving I am able to pick myself up very quickly from a ‘fall’ or an ‘oops moment’ - I really attribute a big part of my maintenance success to that.

I’ve also come to realise that when I was at my biggest, I was in a terrible cycle of staying down for months on end after a ‘fall.’
I cannot stress enough how important it is after that ‘oops moment’ to quickly pick yourself up, brush yourself off, stop the self-loathing, be kind to yourself, feel those feelings and move on.

It doesn’t matter how many times you re-set, re-start, re-focus or re-align, just don’t ever give up!

One of my top tips for weight loss and life in general is to practise positive SELF TALK. 🙌

A positive state of mind creates positive emotions which in turn creates a positive lifestyle - stay positive whilst on your journey and watch your world change.

Remember it is absolutely normal for those negative thoughts to creep in from time to time, but try not to give them any power - one way in which you can do this is to;

✨Recognise and acknowledge the negative thought that you are having, take a DEEP BREATH, come back to your reason for starting your weight loss journey, and focus on that.

✨Think about all the amazing things you have to gain by becoming a healthier self.

✨Let your WHY motivate you to move past the negative thought and turn it into something positive. It may even help you achieve your goals faster.

Taking care of your thoughts is taking care of your health. 💗

Hi there 👋 🤗……I hope you are well and managing during such trying 😢times.
It’s definitely not easy to travel this current road of uncertainty, and yes we are all experiencing many detours along the way. (A worldwide pandemic -who would have thought this could happen in our lifetime🤷🏻‍♀️)

Due to the fact that so many of my clients, friends and loved ones are in self-isolation, I thought I’d put together my top 10 tips for isolating the healthy way;

✨Keep to a regular routine, create small empowering rituals.

✨Eat well for healthy mind, body and soul.

✨Have some downtime - rest, recharge and reset.

✨Make sure you get some exercise, there are so many free videos out there. I’m about to do this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QRZcZgSgSHI&autoplay=1

✨Stay connected with family and friends, reach out to your loved ones if you need their help in any way.

✨Breathe, stay centred and calm. Try an online yoga class or a guided meditation.

✨Write yourself a to-do list - maybe there is a project or cleaning around the house that you have been meaning to do.

✨Keep your brain active by reading, learning something new, writing a journal, doing a puzzle, drawing………

✨Write yourself a happy list - what can you do to make you happy? (I love putting on my playlist and dancing around) you may like to have a bath, or light some candles.

✨And last but certainly not least, remember this is TEMPORARY! And that this too shall pass. 🙏✨🌈
