9 programs, 1 unforgettable July semester break! Countless memories 💯😍

From paint-splattering chaos at Kaboo, the magic of Cats the Musical, and stepping into the spotlight in our Drama and Dance Workshops — to climbing at Treetops and Bouldering, catching Superman at IMAX, battling it out at Fortress, and whale watching on Sydney Harbour — our Co-Hivers didn’t just enjoy the moment, they grew through it!

This Semester Break was about more than having a good time (though we definitely did!). It was about building confidence, social connection, independence, and real-world experience in new and exciting environments.

💬 Every event gave our participants the chance to step out of their comfort zones — and step into new skills, new friendships, and a stronger sense of self.

Semester 2, we’re coming in strong! 💪🎉

What does it take to turn a love for dogs into real-world skills? 🐕 🐾

Our Animal Care Pathways participants found out on an eye-opening field trip with Centennial Parklands’ Mel , a professional dog walker who gave them a behind-the-scenes look at her daily routine.

With leads in hand and questions ready, they:
✔️ Worked directly with dogs
✔️ Learned from Mel’s experience on the job
✔️ Observed how a small business in animal care is run

For many of our participants, it was more than just a walk—it was a chance to see how their passion for animals could shape a future career, one pawstep at a time.

What if you could ask a real estate agent exactly how to get rental-ready?

That’s exactly what our Steps to Independent Living program experienced during a two-part workshop on all things rentals. Led by the incredible Daniel Moddel, a highly awarded and experienced property manager, and his colleague Guy Bezzina - PRD Perez Maroubra from PRD Perez Real Estate Maroubra. From flatmates to rental inspections, it was a crash course in confidence and real-world know-how.

📋 How to confidently navigate rental applications
📞 Practising calls and emails through role-play
🔑 Learning what landlords look for
🏡 Touring a local property and asking the tough questions

These sessions are helping young adults better understand their housing options, advocate for their rights, and take meaningful steps toward independent living.
