Sometimes l get asked if we can determine an optical prescription from a pair of glasses. The answer is, of course we can! If we couldn’t do that, we couldn’t make them to what is prescribed!
The instrument we use to determine lens power is a vertometer. It can measure the power in dioptres of a lens including the correction for astigmatism, prism and more. They are a simple but very important device for any spectacle maker or optometrist.
