Silkwoodstars is a welcoming kindergarten and childcare service that provides safe/stimulating environments for each child to enquire, develop and grow.

Our Commitment to Child Safety & Wellbeing

Silkwood Stars Kindergarten and ELC is committed to creating a child safe organisation where all children and young people are safe and feel safe. We have a greater focus on safety for those children and young people who are considered more at risk to abuse and neglect. We actively support and facilitate participation and inclusion of Aboriginal Children, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD), those who are unable to live at home, children with a disability and/or children from sexually and gender diverse groups (LGBTQIA+). We have commitment to managing both physical and online environments to keep children and young people safe through governance, systems, and processes. This statement provides the framework for the organisational approach to complying with best practice by aligning with Victorian Child Safety Standards in conjunction with the guiding National Principles for Child Safety. We have a zero tolerance to abuse, racism, bullying and discrimination. We have an explicit commitment to the cultural safety of Aboriginal children.

Thank you Anthony Semann from Semann & Slattery for delivering an inspirational PD on 'Positive interactions with children'. My takeaways were the power of relationships, small group teaching, the power of routines and consistency, and last but not least, rights and responsibility.

Happy Diwali to all our Families!

Wishing everyone a joyful and bright Diwali filled with love, light, and laughter! A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful educators for creating such beautiful Rangoli designs and sharing the spirit of the festival with our community. And a big thank you to our amazing children for their enthusiasm in lighting the Diyas and celebrating together. Your smiles truly lit up our centre today!

Our Kinders had a fun-filled day in their PJs! 🌟

From collecting donations for the Pyjama Foundation to learning where popcorn comes from 🍿, painting with popsicles 🎨, enjoying Peppa Pig with home-brought snacks 🐷, and having a cozy pretend sleepover & storytime in a tent ⛺—it was a day full of learning, laughter, and love 💛

🚀✨ Our little astronauts went on a space adventure!

They built rockets, painted the solar system, and explored the stars, sun and moon. The space tuff tray with rockets, astronauts, and a friendly alien made it even more fun! 🌙🪐👨‍🚀
